Let me start by saying Ive never had any engine/transmission issues with my tacoma ( love the damn thing). 135k miles

Had to make a 5 hr drive today and everything was fine. When I turned on my headlights I noticed one of the lights behind my speedometer went out, which was odd but hey whatever bulbs die. I drove for a good 3 hrs with no problems, slowing down and speeding up as necessary. At one point I was stuck around 50 and went to pass and accelerate when the engine or tranny kinda jumped or studdered repeatedly until it caught and then I was fine to continue driving. The rest of the way whenever I would drop down into that speed it would have trouble for a few seconds knocking/skipping and then be fine.

My initial thought was that it was the tranny having issues shifting around that speed but reading online it sounds like it could be the engine misfiring and issues with the coils. With the light on my speedometer gauge going out and this happening as well, what could be the cause?

Anyways any input would be greatly appreciated, not the biggest fan of fixing issues with my tacoma because they rarely happen

Im no expert with these types of issues but with any kind of missfire especially a fairly noticeable one like youre experiencing there should have most definitely been a CEL tripped. So maybe its not the engine. ..
