Just noticed that my tailgate has a larger gap on left side when closed. Not a big deal but was wondering if anyone has had same issue and if you bothered correcting it.

My tacos bumper is fine, but my buddy also with the same model but in silver (TRD Sport Premium) had his bumper go out of alignment and it caused his BSM to trigger and stay on. It's in the shop today to get reset and realigned. Should be even on both sides.

Not the bumper but when the tailgate is closed, the gap should be the same width on both sides. Mine looks wider on the left and tighter on the right if that makes sense.

Ah gotchya - so like a hinge can be bent or something. When closed does it slope up towards the one side?

Mine has a wider gap as well,,, was gonna check when I had a chance if it could be slid over,, noticed it when I was putting tailgate seal on,, not a huge issue for me ,, only noticeable when really looking ,, my OCD is ok with it ,,, for now

I would just have a tech look it over to be sure, if it bothered you anyway, but also anything not documented early if it becomes a larger issue they could use the time to blame you. (thinking sinister) If you just begin a paper trail early on, a small issue now is better than a large issue later.

Good idea on documenting it. i called the dealer and they made a note of it. They want me to send pics. I'll prob wait until my 5000 mile oil change to get it looked at though.

That would be an issue for me, but more of an issue would be that awful Dealer Sticker on the lower left. I would have made them take that off before I left the lot.

Had the same problem, about the same gap also. My advice let it be the dealer will just fuck it up. They will fix it for you alright, with a pry bar.

I’d agree. Taking it to the dealer is going to open a can of worms over a 2mm gap difference.

Mine is aligned side to side, it just sticks out slightly on one side compared to the other. Might be the latch/catch needing adjustment.

I noticed this too on mine when I bought it last month. Asked the salesman about it and we checked 5 more tacos on the lot, all had the same gap. I left it at that, oh well.
