new member looking to purchase the best and afforded 3 inch lift. Now I rarely do off-roading so I'm basically going for the look. I've read spacer lifts are junk so I found a toytec and OME 3 inch lift for about $309. I have an 06 Tacoma 4x4 ext cab 4.0. Would I need new shocks , new UCA and diff drop ? Pretty new to all of this and I've been reading most of your comments and you all seem pretty knowledgeable So try to go easy on me lol? Thanks in advance.

I see this is your first post and you're likely new to the forum. So, welcome! Just an FYI, there are a countless number of threads in here that will answer your question based on the intended use of your truck. And in short, you will likely need upgraded UCA's if you're planning on a 3" lift. Anything in the 2.5+" range will likely need UCA's to align correctly.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm really torn between the 5100s all around and add a leaf in the rear or the toytec coil lift. Which is better to suit my needs? Like I said I rarely 4 wheel.

Your caster will be better with the 5100 lift.

Yeah kinda leaning towards the billies but not sure yet.. It's either I get the coils with stock shocks or get the billies all around with my stock coils.

I had 5100s for 2 years set at 2.5" with AAL. Great inexpensive lift. Went with OME 3" after that. I thought OMEs had better ride quality than the 5100s. I also blew out both rear 5100s rather quickly. No problems with OME shocks. I got UCAs to correct the caster with the 3" lift though. Sucked having caster that low.

The only reason the caster would be better is if it's a smaller lift. It's also going to ride much stiffer at the max setting.

So I should probably go 2.5 then to avoid new UCA.. Question for wobble, when you had the billies did you off-road a lot or no? I drive a lot of highway to and from work and never off road ( I live on a dirt lane in Pa so that's the most it will probably see) so I'm kinda leaning more towards the billies.. Some people said just get a spacer lift if you don't off-road but after reading everything on here, I'd rather do it right the first time around

Even at 2.5" your caster won't be the greatest with stock control arms. I recently installed a 2" lift on a 12 Tacoma and he was able to get 2.5° caster on the passenger side at 0 camber. That's best case scenario for a 2" lift.

I did a fair amount, but nothing serious. No rock crawling or anything like that, but I definitely use my trucks.
