My girlfriend and I are driving from Texas to California next Friday, non stop, taking turns.

I've never made this drive before.

Does anybody know if there are some awesome sights to see along the way?

We don't want to be too long on the road. Just quick stops for restroom breaks or possibly to nap briefly and picture and video of course! :p

Lots more to see on I-40, although I don't know how snow through the region might affect the drive in the winter time. I've done the drive from San Diego to Dallas several times and I-20 and I-10 suck

Preferably the shortest route. I think we might be taking I10

We'll be checking the weather for the route the days leading up to the trip, which is next Friday.

The I-10 route is definitely the shortest. I guess I'm biased to I-40 because after a few trips along that stretch of I-10 the same old desert gets boring. It was beautiful the first time tho. Through parts of west Texas and Arizona the speed limit is 85 and 90

    Ah yea, I didn't know

Ooh interesting!!! I didn't realize those places were so close to that road.

For this trip, we are just trying to get to Cali as fast as possible without too many distractions. Our plan is to take off Friday afternoon/evening and get to Ventura by Saturday night. If there's anything interesting on I10 along the way we'll DEFINITELY stop to take pics and video but nothing longer than 30 minutes max.
