I covered the battery and fuse boxes, power washed that bitch! I didn't go full blast on caps and other things I thought were sensitive. Engine super clean now.

Oops, not sure I covered that. Still seems to work. I also kept the engine running.

Back in the day (import racing days) we used to hit the engine bay with Simple Green (bio degradable) amongst all the other recommended suggestions above. It's a good degreaser. Avoid hoses as it might dry them out.

Purple cleaner and a pressure washer! If you already went mudding water got in the engine bay you don't have to cover anything just keep it running obviously don't go full blast on the fuse box and electrical other than that you're fine I do it all the time

I pressure washed away it once but I wasn't that help with it. Just hose it down with like a pressure with a like a pressure nozzle and scrub with soap. And I usually leave my engine on too

    INFO FROM @bjs045
Also, AB is the only national park in CA that you can still free camp (in designature areas). There are reserved camp locations too. Which have shitters and showers. Reserve America website should have what's available.

#1 rule is leave no trace.

#2 you have to bring a fire pit in. You CANNOT dig a pit. We took an old stainless steel washer drum. From the size of this group you may need 2. I bought a mix of Pine and Eucalyptus from South Bay Firewood on Rosecrans in Hawthorne. Bring a shit load 3/4 of my short bed was just wood.

No need for extra fuel. There's a few gas stations along the way to top off at.

I saw someone mention the dangers of the twisty roads to Anza-Borrego. And its true, if I was on my street bike i'd take that road. The OTHER route is much easier.

I have a link below with directions from McDonald's at Weir Canyon Road to Fish Creek Primitive Campground (restroom).

From here we'll need to drive in and locate a decent camp location and probably air down a bit. If the same spot is open from my trip in Dec. that will be great. Could literally fit unlimited trucks. Hope this is a bit more informative.

    https://goo.gl/maps/DLPRaVxDX1P2

Copied and pasted directions from Google Maps below:

Get on CA-91 E/Riverside Fwy from McDonalds

Take I-15 S and CA-79 S to San Felipe Rd in San Diego County
    1 h 40 min (91.0 mi)
    Merge onto CA-91 E/Riverside Fwy 11.5 mi
Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 51 to merge onto I-15 S toward San Diego 38.1 mi
    Take exit 58 for CA-79 S/Temecula Pkwy 0.2 mi
Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto CA-79 S/Temecula Pkwy
    Continue to follow CA-79 S 41.2 mi

Take Montezuma Valley Rd and Borrego Springs Rd to CA-78 E 45 min (35.0 mi)
Turn left onto San Felipe Rd 4.7 mi
Turn left onto Montezuma Valley Rd 17.4 mi
Turn right onto Palm Canyon Dr 1.4 mi
At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto Borrego Springs Rd 11.6 mi

    Turn left onto CA-78 E 7 min (6.6 mi)

Continue on Split Mountain Rd to your destination 16 min (9.5 mi)
Turn right onto Split Mountain Rd 8.1 mi

Destination will be on the left
    Fish Creek Primitive Campground

Once you are out there gas is a bit of a distance away. Closest gas station near the salton sea.

Since nobody wants to buy my stock wheels, I may just keep them as spares, paint them dark bronze and add some all-terrain tires. Thoughts?
