TRD supercharger

Are you launching in 4wd? It isn't obvious in the video, but I'm pretty sure I get significantly more wheel spin launching in 2wd prior to my pulley install.

 

That's been Lobster's bane since he installed his supercharger.

 

Installed my trd s/c last night. Cross referenced the TW write up with the instructions manual, but couldn't really figure out what hoses were being routed to the vsc and where it should be mounted. How did you guys mount/plumb the vsc?

 

Thanks, mine has one nipple used for the booster and one for the evap, but I couldn't figure out how those also connected to the vsc, the evap is currently connected to the vsv. So I need to connect 2 eighth inch vacuum lines to the vsc and one 5/16" hose to it as well

 

Anyone try to install an oil drip can after an SC install? I really want to install mine but cant find a way to get my hand in there. The best I've come up with was I went and bought a long pair of needle nose to at least reach in pop the clip off the existing hose, but getting the new hose on might be a bitch lol

 

I did it. You will get a few scrapes.

 

I mounted mine in an unusual place as compared to most.
In the fender well on the frame. It is easy to route the hose there. When I change my oil, it is easy to drain.

I'll give it a better looking over when the sun comes up, but everything appears to be in good shape and includes everything. However, there is a dead spider in the throttle body, so I may need to set it on fire.

 

Better sink the blower in gasoline and loght it up, only safe way

 

Maybe there's a whole colony living inside it and there will be spider bits flying out the exhaust when I get everything together.

 

Or they infest your engine and when you're flying through the desert one day they come out through the fire wall and attack!! Alot of people don't realize that spiders can survive in an internal combustion engine for years, biding their time. Its a fact.

 

Who's junk do I have to suck to get a smaller pulley for this old ass supercharger? The only ones that used to make one are ASP but those don't appear to be available anymore.

 

Don't you have a VVTI V8? How are you going to deal with the fuel rail and such to fit? I'm extremely jealous though and did you pick it up locally?

 

Correct. But I'm attempting to put it on a 3UZ-FE so every problem I run into will be unknown so far. Its VVTI but not nearly as complicated as the 2UZ VVTI, what with the air injection, pumps, whatnot. For the price it was worth exploring, if nothing goes well, I'll just sell it. It was shipped here from across the country, but the guy did a fantastic job packing it. Even got one of those heavy rubbermaid boxes and filled it with some kind of spray foam.

 

Nice! Bummed I won't see it installed on a 2UZ. I dream about putting one on my Tundra. Was this perhaps the one in PA?

 

It'll be quicker in my (slightly) lighter weight Lexus. Could be closer, but still very far off, from AMG power levels. Maybe I've got some Rock Lobster syndrome going on. Yes that's the one. Surprisingly good guy. I gave him a chance to take my money but he kept telling me to hold off sending it until he got it boxed up for a shipping quote.

 

Did you ever get around to installing those headers? I just picked up a set for myself and was wondering how you liked them
