I would like to get a remote start on my TRDsport. I'm concerned about the integration with the fob. I would prefer to not get another fob seeing both my cars have them, I don't want a third on the same keychain, and I don't want 2 key chains. Let me know what you have and how its working out for you.

I don't have my 16 yet but the dealer is installing a drone mobile remote start. It'll give me the ability to start it with my phone. Others have reported having non oem remote starters programmed to use the factory fob.

Mine, installed by the dealer, starts with the factory fob. Lock button three times starts the truck.

So let me make sure I'm reading the website right. You have to pay $450 for the OBDII plug-in and then a $50/year subscription?

Someone does this mean that we can send OBDII signals to the ECM and remote start our car that way??

Sounds like a cool embedded system w/ android app project I'm willing to create.

Extreme Canadian winter package: studded rubbers and sand bags.
I had a viper smart start module and a second module installed from Jb's power centre now I can star it with my phone from anywhere I have service and also retain my factory smart fob for the push to start. The factory fob works to start the engine as well just press the lock button three times and it starts (obviously only with key fob range). The viper app costs $100 a year Canadian, but has lots of features such as gps tracking, geofencing alerts, you can set speed limits (if you've got kids driving and it will alert you). I payed $720 for parts and install. (Canadian)

I think if you run a Search you will find there are at least three other threads discussing this topic.

I went to a local installer and he tried to talk me out of using the factory fob to start the truck. He said that you have to do the three button pushes just right and you are limited to the range of the fob. Plus no confirmation of start.

Don't have a '16 Taco but on my '15 GX460 I can use EITHER the remotes to start the car. OEM fob---push the lock button 3 times, Aftermarket fob - push the Key button twice. The aftermarket can start/lock/unlock UP to 1 mile (line of sign) plus the 2-way communication while the OEM is about 3 yards max.

The engine STOPS every time you open the door (if it is remotely started)....My 2007 IS350, 2010 RX350, 2010 RX450h, and this 2015 GX460 do the same. Stupid design, Toyota.
