Im kinda hoping someone will screw up in a low speed situation and mess up my front bumper so i can just use insurance cash on a pelfreybilt alum or steel bumper depending on howmuch an insurance company forks out

That's how I bought my Pelfrebilt bumper. Insurance forked out $600.

A year ago a guy fell asleep in a newer Nissan Pathfinder and rear ended my '88 SR5 22RE pickup hard. Fortunately my truck was parked in front of my house without me in it. My truck got airborne and came to rest on the sidewalk 30' from where I parked it. Both trucks were written off. Mine was only written off because ICBC (provincial insurance company) looks for any excuse to pull the older vehicles off the road despite it being rust free and only clocked 175,000 kms. Even the insurance guys at the claims center gathered around and sympathized with me cuz it was the best one they'd seen. It had relatively little damage because of a custom steel plate bumper which sustained zero damage. I took a $3000 cash offer and bought it back for $350 and then parted it out for another $2125. So, long story short, I now own a 2015 Taco with a steel plate bumper and sliders from Cruisin' Offroad. A couple of skid plates soon. They're a small company in Chilliwack with 4 guys making great quality stuff at a good price. If you're in Washington state a short drive across the border will save you almost half the way our dollar is right now.

Was on a trail in a bad position and the only way out was to push over some trees end up pushing over 4 or so 4-5" trees only damage was to the trees the bumper cleaned right up.

Well I didn't want to ever have to post my own pics in here but today I hit a tree (Pine, 8-10" diameter) at about 30 MPH.
Relentless DIY kit that I welded myself, hoops came back and hit the hood and fender.

I think I can bend everything back to be fairly close.

the truck is drivable except for an alignment issue (Sheared a cam tab) and that only happened because I was turning at the time of impact and the wheel hit hard enough to shear it.

All in all it's a very similar situation to the video of the FJ in this thread.

I'd call it a loss since the Taco is buying the Ford new parts. Ford might just have to be totaled according to the owner probably.

Yeah, it was a crappy friday but since I had zero previous accidents or tickets and have good insurance they paid, premiums stayed the same and the guy with the ford probably got a new truck. My truck had zero damage so considering the other potential outcomes I considered it a win.

I saw this salvage Tacoma listed on eBay. It must have been one hell of an impact..

Looks hybrid to me. Not that it'd make much difference, given the evidence of impact velocity.
