    Hey All,

New to posting here but not new to viewing the forums. I know I am about to get flamed wildly for this post! haha. In all honesty I searched the entire forum and internet at length trying to decide what tire will fit my truck, max.

285/70/R17 clears on my 2015 TRD Sport short box 6 spd WITHOUT removing any mudflaps. I heard a small rub when I was reversing and crossed a curb, so I think the 2 little front ones will have to go.

I'm posting only because everything I found on every forum was suggesting 265/70/R17 was my max; but I've run that for a while and knew I had a lot of clearance left. Anyway, to anyone considering 275 or 285 I'd say go for it, I'm glad I did.

    Considerations:

    - I have a rounded shoulder on the tires I used, I could see a wide shoulder touching the UCA. I have millimeters of clearance in places
    - Larger offset wheels would require modifications to suspension or trimming due to the fender clearances so I can say for me this is for sure the max my stock Tacoma can fit

I Hope this is helpful for anyone thinking of going just a bit bigger. :)

Sorry if the pics don't link properly... Like I said; new to posting.

Did you take the coil over off and fully compress the front suspension and then test turning the wheel lock to lock while doing so?

Nope, didn't collapse it fully. It honestly doesn't look that close. I will try to get a picture with the wheels turned. But with that said I don't wheel this almost at all, just forestry roads for camping etc so I can't say whether or not it would be a constant pain for guys doing that.

The new 285 are Procomp Xtreme ATs. I know, I know... I got a smoking deal and they have a tread life warranty and that matters after my Nitto EXO Grapplers were showing wear after about 6,000 kms.

What happens when you turn or hit a bump or do both at the same time?

That's when it rubbed the front one; going over a curb with a heavy amount of turning at the same time. I can't say I have tried maxing it out though.

Yep, like I said, I didn't try collapsing it fully. It really doesn't look that close though... Maybe I did win a lottery, or possibly I need my eyes checked!

No rubbing just sitting on pavement lock to lock. It looks like you have a big offset on those wheels which I assume to be the reason you rub so much. I will get a picture at full lock tonight

Love it how a stock suspension / stock wheels thread morphs into a lifted with aftermarket wheels thread , lol

It doesn't make sense. I've seen a 285 on a stock offroad rim rub a uca on a lifted Tacoma.

I'm shocked the sidewall doesn't rub the UCA / spindle , I can barely get my fingers in there with my 275/70/17's
