I'd prefer it if mine was held on by 27 bolts, and then welded.

When I was a kid, my mom was parking the car when the steering wheel came off in her hands. She was able to put the steering wheel back on the steering column and continue to drive. This was back in 1958. She was driving a 54 Mercury. $1,400 would have been half the cost of a new Mercury back then.

Fully agree! On my last trip to Death Valley, 250 miles of dirt, some of the worst wash boarded roads in the world. Shit vibrates apart... Broke GPS mount, sheared off the dash, and radiator bushing bolt loosened up.

I had my steering intermediate shaft was replaced under warranty TSB-0119-10 back in July 2010... I remember thinking, my god I hope that tech did his job right!!! I may look at applying some red lock tight to the bolts.

Thanks. One of my all time favorite movie lines. Supposedly the classic bigger boat line wasn't in the script, but was ad libbed by Scheider. It was a hit so they left it in.

    I'll help,

Kind of related here is the story that has been handed down in our family for some time. I can't attest to the validity of the story (as I wasn't born for another 40 years), other than my aunt tells it and my Grandma never refuted it.

My great Grandma's brother Diego and his cousin Tim were alcoholics and had been drinking all day when they went to pick up a new Model T. This is back when you could pull the steering wheels off and put them back on. Diego got tired of Tim telling him how to drive on the way back, handed him the steering wheel and said "here, you drive asshole". They proceeded into the ditch, and totaled the car.

Very cool! I found this article quite interesting. 21 random facts about Jaws

:D Here is a fun factoid: None of the three main actors -- Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss -- was the producers' first choice for the parts. Robert Duvall and Charlton Heston were among those considered for Chief Brody, while Lee Marvin and Sterling Hayden were initially sought for Captain Quint, and Jeff Bridges was discussed for Matt Hooper, the marine biologist.

Whut??? The OP is wearing what looks like black and green board shorts

Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. All Pro Apex front bumper (rattle canned Rustoleum primer + flat black). Plasti-dipped emblems. Mud flaps removed.
This sounds like bullshit to me. I would never pay 1400 dollars to have them do 5 minutes of work on my steering wheel. In fact, I wouldn't pay them anything, id be filling a lawsuit.

Kind of interesting how the OPs who experience this issue always have time to make the thread and then disappear.
