That's the beauty, you don't have to stick to anything. I rotate my shit around constantly.

Carry handle with a sling seems kind of odd.

    So.. no carry handle.

Nice piece. No disrespect meant, but it's not about how it looks. It's about how well it performs the function you want it to.

My vote: red dot AND flip ups

Gotta love those red dots! Of course - I work for Vortex Optics, so using iron sights is like blasphemy for me... :)

I like a simple 4x fixed power scope with BDC reticle on quick release rings, MAGPUL pro BUIS, and a simple reflex site for close in work, though I really hate relying on anything with batteries.

Use a red dot and co-witness those irons. Will be your best bet in any conditions you may ever face

There's always the prism scope option as well. You can get a 1x prism scope with the etched reticle. It illuminates and gives you the quick acquisition of a red dot, but if your batteries ever die, the reticle still remains just like a regular glass etched riflescope reticle. It will just be black rather than illuminated. It's super nice because you never lose a point-of-aim. Also - if you have an astigmatism, you won't get the starburst effect of the dot in a traditional red dot. Here's ours! http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-spitfire-1x-prism-scope-with-drt-moa-reticle We also have a new one coming out in Spring made specifically for the AR platform that runs on a AAA battery which is pretty unheard of when it comes to sights like this - http://www.vortexoptics.com/category/spitfire_ar_prism_scope Shameless plug :)

I run a vortex sparc cowitnessed with Troy iron sights on my rifle. The spitfire will probably end up going on my SBR build I'm doing.

Both the SPARC and Spitfire are some badass optics! Of course I'm a tad biased, but I like them so much I have 5 Spitfire 1x's and 3 SPARCs for my AR's lol

lol awesome! My pleasure - if anyone on here ever has any optics-related questions, please feel free to e-mail me any time at jchamilton@vortexoptics.com

Buyashotgun - sorry for slightly hijacking your thread - Like I said, I always vote red dot/1x prism scope because I like the functionality and look. I have one carry handle sight and every time I think I'm going to use it, I put it on the rifle and realize how much easier a red dot/1x prism scope is to use and take it off...

IMHO I'd go with red dot and have 45 degree iron sights (it's surprisingly comfortable to fire the rifle tilted) that way you can add a magnifier later

    ^^ this ^^

Since it's a 15-22, I'm guessing it's just a target/plinking gun and not for home defense or tactical applications. Determine it's primary use and go with what best suites that purpose.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
A2 carry style sights are real easy to look down. Real easy 75-300yards. It's not fancy but it's easy on the eyes for me.

That being said I have flip ups co witnessed with a primary arms advance micro. I have had zero issues. Can't speak about real impact. I can testify to travel abuse and sub zero weather operations. Also, 5k rounds later and the dot is still crisp. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of their products for anything up to sporting use.
