Hyundai has confirmed a much cheaper price tag on the Santa Cruz. I'd say the Santa Cruz will be a full $5K less than a DCSB 4x4 Tacoma. Maybe even less. I mean, it's basically a Tuscon with a box and those things can be found for cheap.

Well seeing that they are only rating it 2500 lbs of towing capacity this is probably going to be cheaper. I wouldn't expect it to have much payload either. I haven't seen the interior of this but they are claiming it to be a 4 door. So unless the rear doors are suicide doors the production version will probably be larger. I don't see the current concept seating 5. Maybe 2 adults and 3 small children. It'd be like trying to stuff 5 people in a Tacoma AC. Doesn't seem practical to me. Also how much better fuel efficiency do they think they can get without severely under powering it? Only hope would be them using a turbo motor

You don't actually need to guess much. It'll seat 5 like the Tucson does, which is tight but not crazy, and have a very small box. It will come with the same 2.0t turbo engine that the Tucson gets. It will have probably 700 lbs of payload and ~2000 lbs of towing. It will be a Tucson with a box. It won't try to be a Tacoma, because it's a totally different concept. Just think RAV4 with a box if you are having trouble wrapping your head around it.

I would have more room to recline the seat back. The bench seat in the regular cab could only recline so much.

I'm sorry, Man. You gotta do what you gotta do. I just hope it doesn't cost a lot of $ and aggravation for you. I pray the build quality is there for you. Good luck and see you again, soon! Here, here's a little parting present for you (and me)[IMG].

I would go for the Santa Cruz if it was made with AWD option..which I think they will. I wish Toyota made another Gen1 size truck...which is what the Santa Cruz would be I think, but I haven't seen it in person. Not sure how you get 26.3 MPG... impressive...I get 23MPG, but it's mix driving. Small size vehicle with the capacity to carry MTN bikes and other things without being a full work truck is a nice feature for me. Would love for a Gen3 to be regular cab with all the modern features in the size of Gen1, but that's dreaming.

80% highway, keeping cruising speeds around 70, and I had a manual transmission.

On my scan gauge, once i started going past 70, my MPG dropped fast. Cruising at 75 gave me 25 mpg average.

More importantly, your truck has been broken into 5 times? Where are you in SoCal?

After I park my truck in my garage, I go into my house to sleep. It's much more comfortable. ;)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think a better job might be the answer. Why are you sleeping in your vehicle anyways? Not enough info.
