Just in case anyone is interested in the already happening Leaf Recall. I would like this thread to document your experience once you get the call or letter asking to come by the dealer to get your leafs replaced. Maybe we can help each other out and pinpoint the dealers who are easy to work with or the ones that do not deserve our business.

I added the links to the TW threads that I got the images from. Since I am in Cali, I will have to wait 'til August or September.

Wait... the first picture says Toyota will replace the springs, and the second says they inspect and replace the springs as necessary. Don't tell me they're just going to put the retainer clip on

Well!!!! that is the intent of the post... there is conflicting information and we should note the experiences with each dealer if in fact Toyota is letting each dealer decide.... so much is unknown....

The first letter is the actual recall notice in which they will replace the springs. The other is the earlier interim notice, that if the customer is concerned before the remedy is complete they will inspect and replace as necessary.

Edit: only certain leaf packs are affected

That is good to know... I am looking forward to the actual experience with the recall and each toyota dealer.

Yeah, actually I spoke/typed too soon, it looks like only certain springs are affected. they verify which spring is installed and go from there.

I hope they're not looking for a part number on the spring. The dealer coated mine with about 20 pounds of black goo in the frame spray thing.

Heck if a leaf broke it probably couldn't hit the tank anyways. Each pack is essentially one mass of putty so it would just stick to itself.
