Regis H. Philbin. I'm tired of this knee-jerk internet culture.

    http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsp...t-the-epas-track-car-proposal-actually-means/

"the wording included in the bill, and highlighted by SEMA, is not a newly established rule outlawing a previously allowed activity. Instead, with this language, the EPA seeks only to clarify the wording of an existing law—one that has been in place for many years, and that apparently has not hampered our current culture of amateur or semi-professional competition using production road vehicles in any way."

Eh, doesn't seem to change anything. It's always been illegal to remove emissions equipment.

Ha, So is that knee jerk Internet comment direct at me? And I did read that article shortly after this was posted. I still think that it's good to share info like this because they are pushing to bring this back up. And seems it may play a big part in aftermarket products as well and a possible stepping stone for further more stringent laws to be passed. If all this has been around for a long time (which most has) then the push to bring the issue and law back up. I already live in California where it is strict about emission while the states all around have little to no regulations. Think they should be focusing on all city, state an government vehicles that are out dated and polluting way worse then anything on the road. Plenty of other things air quality wise to worry about, like this huge gas leak in porter ranch, the nuclear power plant in San flame te etc. My opinion and just my 2¢

Ya know Cory there will always be some that will downplay the attempts of circumventing due process by groups/agencys with def. agendas , they'll say " You're worried about nothing" Until that big chunk of sky lands on their head & only then will they look around in confusion thinking "If only there'd been a clue this was going to happen"
Translation: It ain't until shit hits the fan on their doorstep , THEN it's a big deal.....they need a couple of....:smack::smack:

Nope, I have no qualms with you. I wouldn't passive aggressively call you out via vague-posting. If I had a personal problem, I'd PM you

My feed has been full of sensationalized reports about this news and a host of "sky is falling" reposts. The R&T link was a lot more chill, like news should be.

I am personally pro-EPA, even though their enforcement is often convoluted. I don't think humans have any more right to the planet's resources than any other group of humans or living organisms. I don't think those who disagree with me are wrong, nor do I expect others to agree with my viewpoint.

What are the modifications that classify as turning a vehicle into a "racecar"?

It's vague. Basically performance mods. That makes the CAI on my 4Runner that can barely get to freeway speeds a racecar. I like it.

Either way it's not the purpose of an administrative agency to write laws; the Legislature has the sole authority to write laws. The EPA has been writing its own laws for too long now such as adjusting the Clean Air Act to cover carbon dioxide. I wonder if the EPA will ever be held responsible for the Animas River spill? Top men are on the issue...
