    i need a bigger truck :( the dodge 5.9 cant tow my boat over 58mph.... LOL

    unless im doing down hill or drafting behind a semi. LOL. any head wind and I am DONE!!

    The chassis needs to be 3/4 ton or larger for 5th wheel.

    this.. if I ever get a new truck.. (once mine is paid off.. so close!!) it will most likely be a Diesel mall crawler tow rig daily.

    Lots of folks on the towing forums going with a F150 3.5EB for towing 5th wheels, but I wouldn't do it. Hell I got a diesel for our little TT

    As I said, they can do it... but NOT RATED and clearly stated "Not Supported" by ANY of the 1/2 ton trucks.

    With that said, we did find a GMC Dealer (when we were looking) that would install the 5th wheel in a 1500... but we'd have to sign a waiver. WTF?

    Eeeeek. Yeah, the 1/2 tons have a bunch of towing capacity, but the payload isn't high enough for the needed tongue weight with a bumper pull, let alone a 5th wheel. :eek:

    The Power Wagon is kinda light duty for a 3/4 ton, but it's still 1,400 lb payload and 11,000 towing.

    What I personally noticed in our 3 treks across the country last summer....
    90% of all 5th wheels were being towed by RAM 2500\3500
    99% of all horse trailers were being towed by Fords
    70 - 75% of large campers (TT) were GM mix

    I was a bit shocked at the numbers for 5th wheels... my guess is $$ decision.

    So I'm having a really hard time keeping my truck in OD going threw Oklahoma with these really high winds. I've got 285s on so obviously that's part of the reason. But is there a trick to it, to keep it in OD with out working the drive train to hard.

    What do you mean way to high? I deal with this even with my 15 on 34s. If I want to keep 75 in hills I have to keep it in 4th gear

    Ok so I'll try it with OD off. It's 75 mph at 3100 rpms. To me that just seems like it's working the engine to hard. Is it?

    Working the engine too hard is Redline. Just keep an eye on the trans temps and engine temps. If it starts to heat up kick on your heater.

    If it gets too hot just pull over and rest. You can tell if it's working too hard if the shifts get harder
