I owned a 3rd gen Limited and traded it in for a offroad. Hate to break this to you but your limited rides on the sr5 cheapest hitachi shocks and rides much rougher than the offroad. I have driven both over 30x on the same crappy roads.

    Have you driven both?

The non-offroad models must ride like Cadillacs!

The Bilstein shocks that come with the Off Road are softer than the shocks that the SR, SR5, and Limited get. They are also softer than the Hitachi shocks that the Sport gets. They all use the same springs and springs are mostly for ride height, so that doesn't make a difference.

OP, you are going to lose your ass on this deal. The ride quality is not worth the money

This is totally false and you have it backwards. Sport shocks are stiffer for better road handling in corners and such. You will feel more bumps and a stiffer ride with sport.

I didn't test drive one. I did drive it when I went to pick it up after a 5 month wait.

I knew I didn't want a colorado, canyonaro, silverado, ram, titan, or frontier. contemplated an f150. Didn't need that much towing capability, didn't like how high off the ground the tailgate is and hated how much more room it took up in my garage.

Well, OP, I think you might want to swap out those Goodyear Wrangler tires for a different set, which might improve the ride quality on road. And besides, you didn't specify exactly what was the problem.

The offroad tires have large soft sidewalls and factory 30 psi makes them ride pretty soft. I think my offroad access cab rides pretty damn good. The only to make it much better would be to change to a good set of Michilin or Bfg KM2.

The 3rd gen rides a lot better than my 1st or 2nd gen ever did.

I threw 270lbs of sand bags in the back of my OR for a snow storm it seemed to help with the ride quality. I took them out because I don't think I really need them and it still rides better than any other tacoma I've driven.

I love the way my 16 Sport rides. It's much more comfortable than my Mom's 2013 Rav4 Limited. Probably not as comfortable as the Avalon or Highlander but I would say it's more comfortable than most of the Toyota lineup
