Since I see some people on the topic of muffler shops...been taking all my cars to Scott at Minute Muffler in Dublin. Does great work on just about anything you bring him. Done work on all of our classic cars and my taco. Hasn't done anything remotely close to a bad job in the 8+ years ive been going to him

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's got BAMF sliders and a (maybe) relentless fab front bumper.

So i called the Stevens creek Toyota dealer near where i work to order up 2 brake caliper bolts. They wanted $2.90 EACH. So i asked why the hell are they so expensive when i can order them from other deals for less than half that. The lady on the phone said she does not know how, since that amount is less then Toyota charges them to buy the bolts.

You should have said "damn, then that's a great price! I'll take 100!"

I know its not bad. Just a case of sticker shock. Looking on line to make sure i had the part correct, all the Toyota parts sites want about a $1.30.
I ordered them anyway. They will have them tomorrow. :D

Try ordering UCA bolts. Usually right around $10-$12. Had a parts guy try to charge me $28 for 1! After I'd bought the same bolt 6 months prior for $11 from the same counter. Tried to BS me about parts increasing in price and yadda yadda, I ordered online for about $12 and thats right around when I stopped buying parts from dealers unless I cant get it anywhere else

actually Toyota updates their prices quite often. But usually if the salesman wants to or knows how to, can cut the price down. They probably just threw out the bumped price and refused to back down to List. Ive always believed a sale at employee cost at worst case scenario, is better than no sale.

But if the customer is an ass or being a super douche canoe, i tell him i cant budge on price.

then they usually tell me how they can go get it at Kragen for half the cost. I always encouraged him to do so then. :)

Thats pretty much how I felt. I've dealt with enough parts guys at dealers before, I know theres usually a little wiggle room. But to straight up tell me no despite me showing half the price online, puh, enjoy your lack of sale

he is probably just hourly, not a % of the profit. I thankfully was paid salary and 1% of months end Profit total. So every sale mattered to me.

Yep. I used to be the nice guy thats just trying to get a part for my truck, and i trusted dealers. Then I got the shaft often enough and realized what swindlers the majority of them are
