New bumper came in today. Off to the powder coater.

 

Brand new, about $50k-55k.... currently.... probably $10k. It has only 813 miles on it

I've owned and have lots of friends that ran the old buckshots but I've never talked to or read anything about this new version I just learned of them a few days ago. My only negative on them is from my experience they're only good for mid 20k's mileage, the price I have no idea on. I've never owned a vehicle long enough to buy tires for it. The cooper's mainly caught my eye because they come in 255/80, my boss in AK ran them on a tundra and did great in snow, not sure about other terrains. For km2's I never read much into them because I thought they were more expensive than they actually are. But I have heard some very mixed reviews on them in everything from mud to ice. I would prefer a tall skinny I just can't decide to go MT route or more AT like the cooper. I figure cooper and km2 should last a while, my ko's definitely have. I've always loved black steelies, just not sure if I wanted to stay 17 or drop to 16. I've wanted scs wheels for awhile but don't think I could ever pay that much and I'd be livid if one got rock rash

 

My skinny KM2s have far exceeded my expectations in rain/snow/slush. I was actually very surprised at how well they have done in the snow this winter. I never had to put my truck in 4WD to get around, and I live at the bottom of a hill. They also track really well through puddles and standing water, which I can only assume is because of the narrow width.

I've actually seen a good amount of people complain about the wet road performance of them which I thought was odd but you never know how those people drive

 

I think it depends on some of the roads. Some are just more slick than others.

 

Dave's experience has been mine as well. Ive never had a problem is rain, snow or ice. There's one huge thing you aren't considering ....... The km2 is a mud/rock tire. It's NOT a street tire, snow tire, ice tire or rain tire. Compare it to a tire made for ice and snow, it sucks. Compare it to a great street/rain tire, it sucks. Compare it to a mud/rock tire, it'd fantastic. What people don't tell you is what they are comparing it to. Remember the first time you had sex? I bet you thought it was awesome. Remember the first time you had awesome sex? I bet after that you thought the first time sucked. That doesn't mean sex sucked the first time you had it, you just didn't have anything to compare it to.

Go wheel a km2 on the trails. Then swap to the coopers. You're gonna say "man these tires suck on trails." Do they? Or do they just suck compared to the km2? Same thing. Theres plenty of tires that way outperform the km2 in rain, snow and ice. But that doesn't mean the km2 sucks in those areas. Just means it's not as good as the good tires.

In the rain, snow and ice, yes. But get them in a pool of rocky mud ..... well ..... let's just say some sausages like it sloppy and nasty.

 

More reasons to run two sets of tires.
