Sounds like you're saying you could deal a prerunner I4 down $6K+ below MSRP but you can't deal down a V6 4x4 down a cent from MSRP.

You got the deal of the century on a prerunner I4 for less than 21K then, congratulations.

I don't think the MSRP on the 2gen I4 Prerunner was quite as high as the 3gen's. I found the email from the dealer with the price I paid. I was off a little bit....$21,780. I thought it was a shade under $21k....my mistake. Either way, damn near $10k less than what they wanted to sell me a 2014 DCSB V6 4x4. At the time, a V6 Prerunner was about $6k more and another $3k for 4x4. And you couldn't get the DC I4 with 4x4, so it was an all or nothing situation.

I am a real simpleton negotiating deals with "trained" salesmen trying to squeeze every cent out of me. So, I do a little home work before hand. When I talk to them, it's always the "walk out the door price". They have an iPhone with a calc. I refuse to talk about their "add ons" and get into their, "poor is me and I can't afford to go any lower" tripe.

After they get the idea, I start askin for items to be included. They were asking $31 for my OR. So, I don't really know what the the final price detailed was without looking at it, but the offer they took was, $x for the walkout the door price, with a couple of add ons. So that includes tax, tittle handling, jack off fees...and what ever else they wanted to add on, I didn't care but it was going to be a cash $x deal....

My brain hurts less when I just talk, "the walk out the door price"
