I'm no expert either but they will stick out further than your stock wheels. I believe the stock had a 5.5" backspacing?? If thats true those would stick out an inch further than stock.

Tonnaeu cover put on today. :kona:

Bak F1 trifold. Sits flush to the bed rails.

The white stripe under the trd badge is a reflection from the hedges on the other side of the yard.

I am the furthest thing from being a handy guy. It can be done....the toughest part will be holding the rail up to screw it back on.

I did have problems understanding how the s bolts slid into the Bak rails. You don't start at the very end....you'll see that there is a rail track on the bottom that starts about 8" from the end.

Other than that it really is simple. Took me 1.5 hours with some breaks. Most nerve racking part for me was not stripping the bolts....so I took my sweet time.

Just take it one step at a time. You'll be good.

    1. Take bulkhead off and apply foam blocks to the ends. I didn't use the long whether stripping at all. You'll see your bulkhead is slightly taller than the side rails already.

    2. Put the bulkhead back on....totally a one person job.

    3. Take the side rails off....you will not reuse those bolts....just save them somewhere.

    4. Put the s bolts on the Bak rail. 4 for a five Ft bed...5 for six foot bed. For some reason they sent me the six foot bag of parts so I had extra.

    5. Once the s bolts are on put the Bak rail on your bed cap and push it as far forward as you can. There is foam at the bulkhead end so it will seal nicely.

    6. Hidden dragon coaching tiger time with one person. Screwing in a 5-6 for long bar alone takes sills to keep it from moving. Long bolts are supplied in the parts bag.

    7. Once on finger tight a just them and make sure you can close your tailgate...it'll be a tight fit with about a quarter inch gap with tailgate closed.

    8. Install factory rails to the s clamp with the short screws provided. Again...balancing a long rail alone takes peactice.

    9. Put the cover on...align it by unfolding it and making sure it clicks and looks even. The rubber seals on the bed rail can be flicked out flat with your nails....they will fold under on you so don't freak out. Over time this should go away.

    10. Make sure you don't unfold it all the way without the foam strip to protect your cab paint.

    11. Install the two bolts at the cab side...you may need to adjust the cover to get them in. Bolt goes in....then from under the cover add the rubber washer...metal washer then lock washer and finally tje.plastic knob. Don't tighten all the way....

    13. Unfold the cover to make sure all is still aligned good. Once happy tighten the two knobs so they are snug...don't over tighten....not sure if that messes up the core material in the cover. It should be tight to where you think any.more would be bad.

Add the prop rods that hold the cover all the way open. They just snap on.

    12. Apply foam strips so the cover can be opened all the way without hitting the truck. I did one in the center, and the other two where aligned starting at the rubber gasket on the truck.....the foam goes on the cover....not the truck lol.

    13. Done!....don't forget to tighten everything down.

I think i successfully made a "build page". Take a look if you're interested. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/louies-build-2016-trd-off-road-double-cab.417631/
not sure i am concerned with Gap as i only owe about 15K o my 2016. My bigger concern is that i have 10K in extras on a 40K truck. So some idiot hits me and totals my truck, i'm lucky to get around 38K. I can easily pay off my loan, but i'm out big time!! How do you get around that? I have geico. I saw options to add "mag wheels" but that's not going to cover things!!!

If they are factory options, in the event your truck is totaled, those options add value and will be included in your settlement from Geico (or the at-fault driver's company). If you added some aftermarket stuff that doesn't really add value, you're better off removing them if your truck is totaled and selling them. You just have to put OEM stuff back on.

I learned from modifying my MINI Coopers that you will never, ever recoup the money you spend on modifications. So I don't plan on doing that much to my Tacoma.

Ask your insurance agent about extra insurance for aftermarket extras. When my truck got totaled, I got about $350 for my tonneau cover and bed extender that cost me a $1000 two and half years ago. Since I didn't have insurance on aftermarket extras my agent said I could take them off the vehicle before they take delivery of the truck or accept their "stock" value.

Here is a link on LED lights:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/led-interior-lights.396266/

FYI keep reading the attached thread or do a search since the listed dome light is a little long and most folks have gone with a smaller size for the dome light.

Welp I decided to go the opposite direction and install crazy yellow fogs. They actually look badass in person. Super bright and different than the trendy HID craze.
