I thought I saw someone on here before who removed the trim piece around the dash and painted it a different color. The piece of referring to would be the part that is orange on the Inferno trucks.

I'm looking to see how easy this would be to remove, as I don't have the truck yet but am still planning a few early day mods, and I thought maybe I would look into painting it, or matching it to the blue exterior to replicate what they did for the inferno, but on my blue.

Any points to the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's only orange if you get the black interior with orange trim.
The dash trim is actually 2 separate pieces. 1 small piece left of steering wheel and the larger piece is the trim that surrounds the center touch screen.

You have to pull each piece straight out to pop it out of the sockets. Next, you have to unscrew with a philips screw-driver to remove the orange plastic. I actually wrapped mine with 3M Carbon Fiber vinyl instead of painting it.

I was looking to do this. Found some 4D carbon fiber vinyl I think will look good. Has the textured feel to it as well.

Perfect! This is exactly what I was after. It was your original post I had seen a while ago which inspired my search, but I couldn't track it down on here. Thanks for your reply and the pictures!

As long as you give it a day or two to dry and air-out, you'll be fine. Even just one day with a fan on it. I've painted a lot of cars and items with rattle cans, you'll be fine.

So you're saying I can just pull the surrounds straight towards the driver and it'll safely pop the clips loose?

Getting rid of that orange trim on the dash would be a priority for me too! Great idea!!

3M 1080 Gloss Sterling Silver looks like a good match.

I have some samples on the way for my rear bumper. I think Gloss Anthracite is close to MGM.

PaintScratch offers custom mixed factory paint in rattle cans, pens, cans, etc.
You type in your year, make, model and pick from the exact color options available from your car.
For example, 2016 Taco will show inferno, mtm, barcelona, etc.
Pick the color, and then you pick rattle can, and bam, one week later you're all ready.

If you aren't comfortable wrapping you should try hydro graphics/hydro dipping. It's not too difficult and there's thousands of patterns

I'm thinking about using the rest of the plasti dip that I used on my grill on the trim piece. Just having reservations pulling it off...don't want to break anything or have rattles after I put it back on.

Here are some more pics that might be helpful. As long as you have a firm grip and pull directly out, the tabs shouldn't snap.

By the way, going the vinyl route can be difficult. It took me the 3rd or 4th try to get the technique down and almost ran out of the roll of vinyl.

I want to remove/replace the red dash and door accents that cone with the red black interior in the SR5. I'm also nervous about grabbing and pulling on the dash. Could you give a little detail about where to start and how to grab and pull? How do you get it started, with a putty knife? Thanks much for your help!

Don't use a putty knife, just pull on the right side and it will pop off you won't break it. Put your fingers under the orange- gray whatever color it is and pull straight out.
