I routed coax along the drivers side frame rail and through the grommet just under the driver's seat. Easiest to pull the seat and route cable through grommet and under carpet to the dash. I remember the 18' coax was just enough to do the job, and I came right right off the aerial on my tailgate and under the truck and forward. The picture attached shows the mount. I'm also using a quick disconnect.

Oh, one other point, depending on where you mount the CB receiver - mine was in one of the radio DIN slots - you may need to work a little more room for the coax cable connection. I used a 90 degree angled connector but still need to take a heat gun to the HVAC duct that runs behind the dash and pushed it in for a little extra room.

Somebody on here has one mounted on the drivers side of a front plate bumper. I can't remember who but it looked really cool.

I drilled a hole in the LT front corner of the bed. I mounted the antenna on a spring so it can fold back and tuck under the bed rail while not in use. When I need it, un-tuck it and attach to a bracket I made that is bolted to the tool box.
    Works great.

Scroll through this link, you'll get some good photos: http://www.justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Mike's truck

    Good luck.

My cable enters the cab through the shift boot grommet. Didn't have to deal with carpet removal.
My cable was ran to the front of the console to the 'brain/box' which is tucked behind the lower dash panel.

    Quick install too.

... finally found a pic of my cable routing.

If you go this route, be sure to allow an extra amount for the shifter movement. This is pre SAS and Inch Worm Lefty install. None of the CB wiring stuff changed.

I mounted my CB where the ashtray goes, so I ran it under the carpet then down through the grommet shown that's under the driver door. I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the bed and ran the wire to the mount I made. You don't have a canopy, but you could do pretty much the same thing.

    Thanks for all the responses...
I like all the ideas for the bed brackets. I'll probably build one into my custom bumper once I finish that up. And not having to remove the carpet would be a bonus, although it wouldn't be too bad to move it.
Great food for thought guys, I appreciate it!

    BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
I have a CBI off road "ditch light bracket" on just my driver's side where I mounted a 4' firestik with a heavy duty spring. Sorry I don't have a picture but if you google search it then you should see what it is. It bolts on with your hood hinge and comes out from under the hood, very clean install and I love it.

Here's the rig I was trying to find with the front bumper antenna. I think this is a good option for a decent ground plane.

I've got the 6ft bed and plan doing the tailgate cb route. did you find 18ft of coax was sufficient?

More than enough IIRC. Pretty sure that's what stores "typically" sell so yeah should be good. Or maybe I got 25 feet but regardless whichever I got I had some left over by a few feet
