Very strange. Maybe the throw out bearing has an issue??
At any rate this sounds like it's going to take awhile to resolve and get complicated because they'll try all the simple easy fixxes first. And will require a few back and forth trips to dealer.

Remember to be cool calm and collected when working with the service team and I'm sure they'll diagnose and fix the issue and warranty it.

@motomaster132003, you shouldn't change the transmission oil, it might give the dealer an excuse to deny warranty coverage. With the problem being intermittent and happening in almost every speed, I wonder if there's a problem with the master or slave cylinder. Does the clutch pedal feel different when the transmission won't come out of gear? I used to have a Subaru wagon that had a hard time shifting after a drive on the highway and the problem turned out to be the master cylinder leaking internally.

It didn't do it yesterday, but did it once today in 4th and 5th. I seems like it's slightly less difficult to get it out of gear when it sticks if I really push the clutch pedal into the floor. I have a good amount of free play in the clutch, so I'm thinking about taking a few mm of free play out just to see if it makes a difference. The master is still full, so it doesn't seem to have a leak, and the clutch pedal feels consistent.

Subd. I don't have this issue on mine with 5000 miles. But I am interested to see if it occurs with others trucks.

Please see original post. I added a video, and have also taken the truck into the dealer.

Try pushing the clutch twice when it happens. If it then comes out you can likely conclude it is an issue with the master or slave.

This looks to be a synchronizer issue. Had a R151 that did this after a rebuild had to disassemble it and use valve lapping compound to dress the synchronizers and the problem was solved. Hope the dealer service can get your issue resolved.

Try floating the gears through the up and down shifts. Some call this rev matching. only use the clutch to start off from stop. This will force the synchronizers to do their job.

Sucks Toyota is not fixing their errors. My 1st gen is around 190K on the original clutch. No issues shifting after swapping out the old slave and master.

I double clutch but it doesn't help. I'd rather not straight shift (no clutch) with the carbon /composite synchros this thing has.

If it had trouble going into gear I'd say synchros.. But it's trouble getting out of gear.

Seriously your issue is most likely the synchronizers. If it will up and down shift "straight shifting" it with out hanging into gear then that is your issue. Shifting that way takes the pressure off of the hub spline locks and allows them to come out easier. The pic above is strait out of Toyota's transmission trouble shooting manual just to illustrate the part I am talking about. Give it a try floating up and down through the gears it is under warranty.

Have tried Rev matching the down shifts, and it still does it. Double clutching doesn't help either.

The weird thing is that you have to leave it in the same gear for a few minutes at minimum. If you shift from 6th to 5th to 4th to 5th to 6th, etc every 1 minute or so between shifts it will never stick.

Checked the fluid level? They have been under filling the autos maybe they are doing it on the manuals too.... Lol

I checked the level before taking it in, and it was full. The dealer checked the level as well, and confirmed that it's full.

When I get a chance I will do a write up on the 2016 manual transmissions . Haven't had much time lately to research the new manuals as most of my time has been tied up with the low fluid in the auto
Give me a day or two .
Sticking in gear sounds like the transmission is still under load while you are downshifting .
This would make it difficult to move the shifter .
Do you guys know if the injectors are turning off when you decelerate ?
Wondering if its got something to do with the atkinson cycle ?
