Pennsylvania is really far. If my order doesn't materialize here in the next month or so, I might give him a call and do a Rambo road trip

I just put my name on a new Tacoma in route yesterday. I'm told it is 2 weeks out. I purchased in Fort Collins, CO. I'll be trading in my 2007 Tacoma. She has served me well.

Quicksand TRD OFFRD 4x4 Double Cab Base Model: $33,730

    Optional Equipment: $4,683

Premium & Tech Package with JBL: $3,035
    Tow Package: $650
Carpet Floor Mats w/ Door Sill: $209
    Mudguards: $140
    Predator Tube Steps: $649

    Deliver: $900

    Total MSRP: $39,313

I'm paying: $37,067 + $500 BS Delivery and Handling Fee

Not too bad. My first interaction with this dealership they told me they were selling all new Tacomas at MSRP only. This forum helped me find good pricing elsewhere to use as leverage. This is where I will plan on getting the vehicle serviced, so I'm glad to be able to buy it local.

I don't see any reason you couldn't get a similar deal locally. If nothing else the offer should be close enough to make a long trip not make financial sense. What's your method for getting the best price? Good luck in your search.

Heh....paying fees to AZ AND CA is killer....OTD i'm getting the same deal in CA.

The dealer sent me THEIR invoice prices from their dealer daily website. the figures on this forum are a little low (supposedly). Also, True car's Estimate includes delivery and TDA, that's why it's higher.

Best quote I have is a factory order on the following:

2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 Double Cab V6 Automatic Short Bed
    Super White Exterior
    Graphite with Gun Metal Interior
Premium & Technology Package with JBL Audio
All-Weather Floor Liners with Door Sill Protectors
    V6 Tow Package

    MSRP $ 38,533.00
    Discount $ (3,000.00)
    Dealer Fee $ 382.50
    Finance Fee $ 195.00
    State Tax $ 2,527.74
    Local Tax $ 36.00
    Single Article Tax $ 44.00
    Title Fee $ 13.00
    Registration Fee $ 24.00
    Wheel Tax $ 50.00
    Total $ 38,805.24

It's an 8.5 hour drive or a 4 hour flight including layover. He's saying 7-8 weeks for delivery and that I have to pay cash or finance through them using Bank of America at 1.99% for 60 months or 2.49% for 72 months.

Next best quote I have is a dealer trade on the following:

2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 Double Cab V6 Automatic Short Bed
    Super White Exterior
    Graphite with Gun Metal Interior
Premium & Technology Package with JBL Audio
Carpet Floor Mats with Door Sill Protectors
    Exhaust Tip
    V6 Tow Package

    MSRP $ 38,614.00
    Discount $ (2,064.55)
    Business Tax $ 130.09
    Doc Fee $ 598.00
    State Tax $ 2,609.43
    Local Tax $ 36.00
    Single Article Tax $ 44.00
    Title Fee $ 13.00
    Registration Fee $ 24.00
    Wheel Tax $ 50.00
    Total $ 40,053.97

It's a 3 hour drive and I could have it in less than a week. I can pay cash or finance however I wish. I have great credit and plenty of options including pre-approval for crappy rates at my credit union.

The second dealer is trying to say their "free" lifetime limited powertrain warranty is worth the $1248.73 difference. I don't agree.

I told them if they'd waive the business tax and doc fee, I'd accept their offer. I'm waiting to hear back from them. I fully expect them to tell me to stuff it. :)

P.S. If anyone is interested in why the hell that business tax is included in the second quote... well there's unfortunately a TN law that allows them to do that crap. TCA § 67-1-112 in case you want to look it up.

    '16 TRD Off-Road DC 4x4 6MT w/Towing package

32,400 OTD (includes all dealer doc fees etc, but before home state tax/registration)

Thanks to all the information from the forum members, I'm much better informed than I was a week ago.

I feel like this is a fair deal considering how thin they are on the ground, had to search far and wide, pounded the phones for days etc., what say ye wisened olde forum members?

You need to add your taxes up for the real OTD price.

Ok, well that is driving the truck off the lot price, hence real OTD. Here in GA you pay taxes at registration time so I haven't done that yet.

I think it's around 7% but that part is probably less relevant since you can't really negotiate taxes, right?

    2016 Tacoma OR 4X4 DCSB 6MT MGM
Shopped for DCSB Off-Road 4X4 MGM 6MT with all weather mats and tow package as the only options - in Colorado.

    MSRP $33,859

First dealer I went to came down to $33,226 plus $199 dealer fees. I asked a couple times if he could do any better and he assured me that he was giving me the best deal. Pretty much no effort made in getting me a deal.

2nd dealer (in UT) - called and asked for their best price. Refused to come off MRSP, saying that they are in high demand. BS!

I shopped around online and found some dealer discounts online for Tacomas that were in stock. I figured I might be able to get the same deal even if mine had to be built.

3rd dealer (in Denver) - Offered online dealer discount and no dealer fees - $31,826 plus tax

4th dealer (Pedersen Toyota Ft. Collins) - I originally inquired through TrueCar. They sent me a TruePrice of $33,612 plus $499 dealer fee. I told him that I had gotten a quote of $31,826 plus tax from another dealership in the same general area. He asked if he got the price to $31,600 if I would put money down as a deposit. I said yes. He called me back 10 min later and said he got $31,600 plus tax.

    SOLD!

Sure I probably could have kept haggling to get it down even more, but that was $2,259 under MSRP with no dealer fees. I almost believe that if you are willing to wait for the truck to be built, you can get an even better deal. You can call every dealer around and just tell them that you will pull the trigger once you get the absolute best price. Since they don't actually have the vehicle on the lot, they have to fight for your business, because you can just order the same thing anywhere.

Other takeaways - TruePrice is nowhere near the best price. Unless a dealer is a couple grand under MSRP, they can definitely do better. Don't let them get the sale by being lazing and unwilling to work with you. Always make dealerships compete for your business. Use online dealer discounts as a basis for the minimum discount you should be getting.

was looking at an OffRoad 4x4 DCSB with HH and TO package, MSRP was $37670, sales price is $36400. Then about $400 in dealer/title/license fees and 6.25% sales tax. Not the best "deal" I've gotten on a new car, but given demand I am content with it. I have a trade, which I think the dealer is low on, but the sales price of the truck is not contingent on the trade. They told me I'm welcome to sell it third party while I wait on the truck, which I'll put a small effort into (which is why I don't really have an out the door price, sales tax could swing by $1600 if I don't trade it in). This is a large dealer with multiple brands on the same lot, but a small toyota showing. Once I got the numbers I went to another stand-alone toyota dealer closer to home, was really open and asked them if they were willing to beat the drive out price of the first place, and they all but asked me to leave, saying they're not wasting one of their tacoma allocations for anything under MSRP. Weird experience, but gave me confidence that the deal I'm getting is about as good as I'll get in this area in the near term, so I put down the deposit and hope the truck shows up in a couple months.

Ha this is out of state. I give up on GA dealers, they are beholden to the SET cartel adding useless ToyoGuard, LED lights, etc. jacking up the "invoice" by $2k

$37k for an AC tacoma, holy balls, thats a fair price based on msrp, but holy shit. You could get a lot more for your money if you went domestic.
