I hear you. It's tough to decide on. Especially with the option of just doing a custom cat back. I had a conversation with a reputable muffler shop here in town and they said he would do a custom cat back for $500. But then it's hard to decide what muffler to throw in without knowing what they'll sound like (super 44 must not be good).

it sounds exactly like a 30 yr. old car whose muffler had rusted and separated off the main pipe - no shit.

Gave it another day, tried to convince myself it was "ok" and would get better
but the more I heard it the worse the sound was.

The best I've heard from a V6 was my 2011 DCSB Sport, same model I have now in the
2016. All I did was put a CAI on it (Volant) which had it's own "deckplate") type of
hole in the front, sounded great, stomp on it, sounded even better.

At this point, I'm waiting on someone to release the main tube and I'll keep the
stock air box, new AFe filter I just put in and that might be it for the exhaust.

So I just watched the TRD Pro Tacoma reveal, and from the video, it sure didn't sound like the stock exhaust. Looks like there will be a TRD exhaust option in the near future. That being said, who knows what the price will be and aftermarket ones are usually a bit louder. Though I'd have to pick between TRD and Magnaflow. Don't like the Flowmasters on a V6. I like low and calm rather than loud and droning or high pitched.

    Confirmed: http://expeditionportal.com/exclusive-test-2017-tacoma-trd-pro-review/

    I do like that tip!

    that exhaust tip is nice!!

just watched the vid, looks sweet but would have been a waste for
me as I don't go off road so no real need for those features. Looks like
there's a Pro badge up near the side mirrors.

MagnaFlow could be contacted to make the systems, then they just stamp the TRD logo on em instead of the MagnaFlow

So @Jkilpatrick357, how is it after having a few days to get used to it? I went by a local shop and almost pulled the trigger on ordering it in but wanted to hear a little more about it first. Mostly the interior noise. I can't really stand a lot of drone (well I can, but the girl might not). Some isn't bad, but I've been in a few cars/trucks that were just plain annoying on the highway, especially on a 5-10 hour trip. *cough* Flow Master Super 44 on a V6 Mustang *cough*

With the way our Tacomas like to go in and out of 4th, 5th, and 6th I was curious if it has any drone when the RPM goes up in 5th on the highway or when it's kind of lugging along if you will. The system I had on my Tundra was almost completely silent on city roads and up to about 65. Anything over that and the RPMs would be high enough to cause a little resonance throughout the truck but it was bearable.

If you think it's pretty good, then I'll go ahead and get mine ordered, just wanted a second opinion if possible. I don't care about power or MPG gains, since they would be very minimal at best anyway, just looking for a deeper tone than the stock sound.

    Thanks!

hahah! @ the flowmaster super 44, that's the one I put on the taco a few weeks back and
    removed 2 days later.

I'm waiting for more clips and opinions, I've already tossed $175 bucks down the toilet on the
44 install, uninstall, reinstall the stock again project. :D

Jason -do you have long bed or short bed? which kit number did you purchase? I am waiting on my TRD Sport DC shorted to come in and have had multiple emails with Magnaflow as to which kit I am supposed to purchase. Oddly enough, when you go to their website they DO NOT have a kit set up for the double cab ( they call extended cab) with the SHORT ( 60") bed!

Their last email states I need.. "19147 ( under development), 15315, and 17147." Originally, I thought it would be simply 19291 vs 19293.

Not sure if it matters, but the details of the parts show that it is for the 2015 Tacoma TRD PRO V6 4.0L gas. Can anyone explain to me if this matters at all. I can't seem to get a straight answer from them on this. Perhaps they have not built a kit specifically for this set up yet??!! Seems odd to me.
