Got a couple hours of work in today

It's only dovetailed in now about 2.25" with a TON more bed space. Not to mention, I will actually be able to mount my gas filler neck back to the stock door!

Got the bumper wrap-arounds done. Pretty much the same as they were before. I think the next step is to pick up some metal to start building the actual framework of the bed and wheel wells. I'll be attempting to do that this week sometime.

    Turn that frown upside down!!!!

Got some stuff done in the last 3 days. New tube bed is coming along and the framework for the bed floor itself has been started. Also received my new coil-over springs for the passenger side coil-over and got those swapped out and adjusted.... the front of the truck is now 1" lower and it finally sits level without the preload adjusted down on the driver side coil-over only.

Decided to plate the rear frame as well since I'm back here doing all of this work. That will hopefully be done by the end of this weekend.

I really liked the dovetail too, but it quickly proved itself to be a pain in the ass for hauling shit and keeping the truck and stuff that was in the bed clean. Plus. I can't keep something the same for very long or I will get bored with it

Yeah, the downside of a reg cab. Mine is straight crawler so clearance was my concern, not storage. But I do have the ext cab to keep a few things so it's not too bad

Never used a plasma cutter. I'd think it'd be easier than using a torch though. I've been told before I'm a fair hand with a torch, back before I was edumacated and was doing road bores for my uncles company, cutting casing pipe. Wonder if the skill would translate to a plasma cutter?

Plasmas rock. Once you use one, you'll never go back to a torch. A steady hand is all you need along with determination to "Git R Done"

It's really about the same as a torch, anyone who has the hand steady enough for a torch could easily run a plasma.

Now you're just assuming things :D

Yup yup. I had to choose between a set of torches or a plasma and at the time I had very limited space in my parents garage, and being that I already had a compressor, plasma was an obvious choice. I've never even really found a need for torches since.

Hmm...I'm not steady at all. The steadier I try to be the more I shake, lol. I think that's why I'm not that great a welder. Never really had to be steady for a torch though. I was taught to rest my left hand on the work piece and guide the torch with it while operating the controls with my right hand. Pretty much took the shake out of the equation. Then it was just a matter of following a line while maintaining the proper orientation with the tip.

Good use for torches not involving cutting: heating up frozen fasteners or bolts installed with red locktite. (Oh, and acetylene cannons are cool too.)
