My 2015 4.0 is going through its first winter. I now has about 8000mi.

We've just had are second major snow storm today, and I noticed a burnt clutch smell when trying to get out of deep snow (3ft) in 4hi. I don't notice any burnt smell when only in 2wd. I also noticed the smell when in 4wd during our first snow storm just over a month ago.

I've been driving manual trans for 20 years (this is my first truck and thus my first Taco), and I've never burnt out a clutch in my life. I also find that the sifter shakes quite a lot when trying to drive out of the heavy stuff.

Is it just my driving? Again, I've got no problems with it when in 2wd, just in 4wd.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. When trying to get through the deep snow, should I turn the TC off when I really need to get on the gas? I supposed the same would apply if ever I'm in deep mud?

On road, I turn of my TRAC with the long push while not moving. For deep snow and off road, I do the short push so that TRAC will activate. I use the short push in 4 low also - I did the yellow wire mod.
