Ghost flames are worth 20hp

 

I have an AFE on my 2012. Noticed nothing on the butt dyno. It's loud as hell at WOT. Other than that it's fairly quiet.

 

For the Ford, since the 5.0 has been in the Mustang for years, there is a LOT I can do with it and fairly easily. There's a place called 5Star Tuning that makes all sorts of custom tunes for the 5.0. I'm really considering it, I'm just a little nervous with warranty. 5Star will actually even sell you their own powertrain warranty which says a lot about the confidence they have in their product.

On another note. Did Toyota ever sell the upper ball joints separate on the 2nd gens?

 

No they force you to buy the whole arm. Moog and some other companies make replacements though

I have a set of low mileage ones that were given to me but I was thinking if there were a good option for new one's

 

I am seriously looking into the livernois tune for the ecoboost. From everything I have read, it improves shift points, smooths out the ride, and really opens up the engine to better utilize the boost. Reviewers who use the truck as a commuter daily driver have said they wish they did it earlier.

As I understand (especially on boosted vehicles), the EPA seriously retards the timing of the engine to keep it "eco friendly". Using one of those tunes reduces the choke from the government and lets the engine perform as it was meant to. Still a little nervous about messing with the engine's timing, but with the amount of reviews out there and no one complaining of catastrophic failures, I think this may be the year.

 

$112 ea used for the lights with the bulbs like you have now. I can also do CAPA certified aftermarket LED style like on the '09+'s for about $100 ea

 

Thinking of maybe putting these ball joint's instead of the OEM's into my Camburg arms

Just got an update from UPS. Superbumps will be here today, springs on Monday. what's weird is that both were ordered from wheelers, the springs shipped from Wheelers in Oregon and the superbumps shipped from Nevada. Must be dropped shipped from the manufacturer I guess

 

Ya adjustable coilovers are cool, but salt just wrecks everything. That's why I don't think I'd ever use anything but a non adjustable bilstein or ome type shock

Wrap the threaded collar in duct tape before you spin the nut up on it. That's what my friends used to do with their Tein SS coilovers that didn't have stainless threads.

 

Tunes are going to help a turbo engine much more than an NA typically since with a turbo engine you can just crank the boost. Intakes sound cool, but without a tune to deal with the additional airflow, I don't really see how you're going to gain much of anything in the HP department.

Any tune that isn't from the manufacturer's parts catalog risks your warranty. Sometimes the local dealers will sell you the parts, get it in writing that it won't cause issues with claim denial. When I did my AccessPort on my STi, I had about a year left on the 5/60 and they had said if I didn't touch the downpipe they wouldn't hassle me for anything powertrain related. Once my warranty was up, I threw on the downpipe and had it tuned and the car went from quick to too fast to enjoy on the road.

I must be getting old though, because I have absolutely no desire to make my truck faster, I couldn't even tell you when I last went WOT in it.
