Today gave my 2013, V6, 4 wh. drive a breath of spring..... 30K service interval. Changed the spark plugs (first time, fairly easy, 2 1/2 hours), changed the oil, topped off the fluids, rotated the tires, greased the 5 zirks in the drive lines, blew out the air and cabin filters, and everything else on the scheduled maintance list. A morning job and it was done, and done better than the stealership....used anti-sieze on the plugs and lug nuts, dia-electric gel on the coils. It was obvious that the small shield over the front drive shaft that keeps grease from slinging onto the exhaust pipe had never been off, meaning that zirk was never touched by the 2 yr. 25K complimentary Toyota Service tech. but the cap that goes on the bottom of the oil filter flange was missing, meaning that he probably tossed it at the first service. (Tip....after replacing the oil filter, before removing temp drain hose on the bottom of the flange.....blast the flange with some carb or brake cleaner......that will disapate the oil as well as kinda flush out the temp hose.)

 

interesting. When they spoke about Toyota Care at the d(st)ealership they told me that it covers all required maintenance. I just assumed that 10k was the recommend interval, but you're right. i just checked my manual and it says to change every 5k.

What are the oil change intervals using synthetic oil?

• Only Toyota vehicles in which 0w-20 synthetic oil is required (except for the 2TR-FE and 3UR-FBE Engines*) have been approved for extended oil change intervals of 10,000-miles/12-months. (However, you should continue to check the oil level regularly and top off if needed. That will help your engine get the full benefit of synthetic oil.)

• Vehicles in which 0w-20 is an option to 5w-20 mineral oil, (or 5w-30), will continue to require 5,000-mile/6-month oil change intervals, even if

  0w-20 oil is used.

• In the case of vehicles with 10,000 mile oil change intervals, the 5,000 mile service interval has not been eliminated. • If the vehicle operation meets the standard criteria for "Special Operating Conditions" such as: driving off-road, on dirt roads, towing a trailer, making repeated short trips under 32˚ F, or extensive idling; the engine oil must be replaced at 5,000 mile intervals, regardless of what type of oil is used.

 

Changed oil, spark plugs, and air filter. Productive day. Next up: wheel hub assembly.

 

Finally got my Bestop. Just need to figure out where this new rattle sound is coming from.

There's a strap that blows around between the cab and the bed. The plastic clip is what's probably making the rattle noise. From the inside just pull it so it's snug up to the canvas.

 

I made a shift knob.

 

I installed the pro grille, and color-matched surround the other night. I've been thinking about buying and installing these pieces for a while, and finally decided to go for it. The installation was very straightforward, and it took me about an hour. Thanks to @CBT_Brian for helping with the transaction.


I guess I'm about finished working on my truck for a while. Getting the pro grille, and color-matched surround installed was one of the last things I really wanted to do (not that I've done much of anything to start with). I'm looking forward to moving up to 265/75's when these stock BFG's wear out, but I've only got a little over 17000 miles on the truck so that will probably be a little while yet. I've thought about maybe getting the TRD exhaust, or perhaps picking up that OEM Audio + kit and installing that, but I haven't really put to much consideration into either one. So, for now I'm just going to drive it, and enjoy it. I do enjoy getting on TW and seeing what the rest of you guys/gals are doing to your pick-ups though. So keep up the good work!

So sexy! Ughh. Can't wait for mine to ship. I'm gonna have the sharpest Taco in town.

 

Replaced my driver's side sway bar end link. The lower joint that attached to the sway bar itself had a ton of play and was shot...which has been causing a really annoying low speed clunk when going over bumps such as pulling into my driveway for quite a while.

I secured low milage take off replacements from another local member on here. I love this forum!
