I'm not sure you can prove a supercharger adds to the towing capacity...

Can you show the manufacturer claims the towing weight is increased due to a supercharger?

Brakes, suspension, transmission, all would affect tow weight and those would not be changed with the addition of a supercharger.

I will totally write off the taxes paid on my supercharger by itemized deduction.

So you pay more in sales tax than what you pay in state income taxes?

You own your own business where you need works vehicles so you can depreciate your trucks on your taxes. Now when it comes to the s/c that's tricky because it's not really a repair but you could right it off as vehicle repairs and maintenance. This will be an issue if you get audited and they disallow those repairs. Now is going to want to see receipts for the repairs and if you show them the supercharger receipt they may throw it out or may not know what that is and think it was something already on the truck. If you get audited and they throw it out then you would add that amount back into the income you claimed and they would figure the taxes you should've paid plus penalties and interest. So decide if it's something you want to try or if you don't want to risk it with the IRS plus your state.

Lots of sales tax. And my state does not charge income tax. Plus I can itemize my property taxes paid to the state.

Very nice, unfortunately in NY we have high taxes, both sales and income taxes. I also just want to make clear that I am in no way condoning defrauding the IRS, anything I said is strictly hypothetical.
