Wanted to see if there were any local 2016 Double Cab owners that are interested in getting a track system mounted into the ditch area. We have yet to have a 2016 in to verify but discussions with my manufacturer seems that the ditch area did not change on the 2016. First TacomaWorld member that comes by my shop will get free install ( normally $150 ) if the ditch is the same. These are pictures of a second gen track install for the ditch area. This does only apply to the double cab but I have some fixed point brackets for the Access cabs.

The factory roof racks are the same so they should work.

That's what my local dealer said but I just wanna make sure the tracks work as well. Strongest and most versatile way to put a bar system onto the vehicle.

Is that as far as they come forward on the cab? I would buy a set if they covered the full length of the ditch save the trim area at the front and rear.

These are the rhino tracks correct? Are the tundra ones the same extrusion as these but longer?

Yes these are the Rhino tracks and the Tundra would be longer and maybe a bit more bend. If you look at the first picture the bar could come more forward just about to the front of the raised parts that are on the roof. Call 503-226-7300 and ask for Randy for more info.

This weekend Rack N Road Seattle installed the Rhino Rack Tracks on my '16 Tacoma. They used the RTS03 found here:
    http://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products/roof-rack-parts/tracks/rts-tracks_rts03
The fitting instructions says the tracks are for a Hilux but they fit perfectly. They did a nice job, would definitely recommend them if you are in the Seattle area. My advice is to have them professionally installed... if you read the fitting instructions you will see the installation comes near airbag equipment. Also there is some bending involved etc.

BTW the end clip (in second picture transitioning from track to factory rubber strip) just clips on and off. Pretty minor but I may ditch it and use black RV silicon instead for the transition.

No sooner did we get confirmation that this was a fit than we had an install done. Here are some pics of the install and finished product. Super clean and looking forward to doing many many more Taco's here in PDX at Rack Attack.

Mainly the ability to have a heavier weight limit, looks cleaner and the ability to change the position of your bars. Plus you can put one of the heavy duty platforms up there.

Does this track mount using the factory mounting holes? or require drilling?

Scratch that! I found my answer on Rhino Rack website. However is it safe to assume that the rails will also accept Thule and Yakima landing pads? Thank you.

Yes see post #9 in this thread. Those are Yakima bars on their landing pads.

Thank you greydog for clarification. Much appreciated! I'm definitely going to be looking into getting a pair of these.

the leading minor of order 1 is not positive definite.
Would you mind posting some more info on these fixed point brackets for AC? That DC track option looks fantastic and I'm glad someone is finally producing such a clean option. Would love some tracks for AC but the tracks are shockingly expensive and I already have tracks on my bed cap so really I just need a clean method of throwing a bar or two up on the cab, even if fixed point. Thanks!

Thanks for the response! I'm just down the street in northern Minnesota....

Those brackets only accept Rhino RLT600 Quick Mount "legs" so not a universal ditch option like the tracks for DC? Is there any reason the DC tracks couldn't be cut shorter for AC roof? Just curious, not wanting to spend that much. I already have loads of Thule parts so not interested in switching systems at this point. Those brackets, though...just drill three holes in the ditch and rivet them on, right? Looks simple enough to fabricate something similar to which I could bolt my Thule Fit Kit base. Are they made from high strength steel or anything special?

We have not cut down tracks for the AC yet, but it may be possible. Rhino will not give me a yes or no on that. They just say the DC 2005-2016
