I have a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 with 81xxx miles. I just recently installed OME 885's, Dakars, and 5100's. I wanted to run 285's on stock wheels so I had to install All Pro wheel spacers as well. Upon getting an alignment and the tires mounted, my shop wouldn't install the spacers so they mounted all four and put them on the front to align it then replaced the 265's in the front on my old wheels for me to drive home and install the spacers myself.

My problem now is I am getting a roar with slight vibration in the pedal at any speed over 20mph. Searching has led me to believe this is either wheel bearings or needle bearing. The truck did not have the vibration driving home with the 265's though. I put the truck in hi-4 and the noise doesn't go away. The wheels do not show any play either, my guess is that the wheel spacers maybe put the added stress on the wheel bearings causing them to go. Any other ideas of what it could be before I go replacing things that may not need replacing?

    Thank you.

Sounds like the wheel bearing to me. Just replaced mine. I was never able to produce any play in the wheel. But when I spun it, I can hear a crackling sound. Mine started after I replaced the rear leaf springs. So I guess it took an alignment to push yours over the edge.

That's what I was thinking too. I have ordered a set of assembled hubs from Jersey Built so hopefully it's good after that.

Good news to hear. I didn't realize how common it was for them to be replaced at 80k. I don't think I ever did a wheel bearing on my 2001 and it had 200k.

I saw that thread from what I understand it's just remove old hub and install new one with a new seal correct? Only tool I need to hunt down is a 35mm socket.

I found the 35MM at Autozone but have since saw them at Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

I ended up buying the seals but not replacing them. I know I should've but was running out of time and if they shit the bed again I will order from Jersey Built and install the seals at that time.

Use the bolt in rotor method to get the rotor off.
