    well yrs ago we could get into the computer but all of a sudden in the trucks we cant decode them

    It wasn't all of a sudden. Toyota simply stopped supplying the code, which would allow companies to overwrite Toyota's programming, to avoid warranty issues. Several other manufacturers have done this as well.

    As engines gain more sensors and more complex programming the amount of risk increases with tuning. Notice how in the 2000's several manufacturers openly supplied 3rd party companies with support for tuning their Diesels? That disappeared after trucks started blowing motors left and right.

    BTW there are ways around it. UCON from URD is a piggyback ECU that can work with the stock ECU to allow for tuning. Unichip is available as well.

    Do you know anybody that has swapped out motors? 2.7 for the 4.0 or are you referring to swapping out the entire truck?
