Anyone know how to disable the Seatbelt warning chime on the 16 Tacoma's? Was easy to do the the 2nd Gen. but haven't saw anything yet on the 16's

Yup some threads on it. You can buy an adapter to plug into the seatbelt connector, or get Toyota Tech using Tech Stream to access the ECM unit to disable the buzzer.

Wear your seatbelt. That usually turns it off........

That would be too easy. Darwinism at its best.

Carista app and OBD adapter. cheap, works perfect, and you can change a bunch of other stuff to. I used it on my OR

Not necessarily. I was mulling this over as well as my dog sets the chime off if she is riding shotgun like she usually does, but I found a little dog seatbelt that clips to her harness and snaps in to the seatbelt receptacle so I no longer needed it. Just saying maybe he doesn't need it for himself

My dealer disabled it, no charge. I do wear the belt except from mailbox to house on long private shared driveway.

So is there not a way to disable the chime without purchasing the ODB2? I have read the manual, searched online and cannot seem to find any reference on how to disable it.

not all dealers will do it...mine refused...said sets them up for liability if driver does not fasten seat belt and is injured and it is found out later the dealer disabled the seat belt warning...

Thats fine if you live near a Toyota dealer. I am in a rural area and have to travel about 1 1/2 hours to the big city!!!!

Find a different dealer. Mine stated on the work order "owner requests seatbelt chime turned off". The red warning light still flashes, just no chime.

    None...yet
Dealer can and will disable it. Just tell them at your next service. It even says they will do it in the Owners Manual...
If they refuse, question their manhood, throw a hissy, jump up and down, etc. ;)

This is what I did. Disabled the seatbelt buzzer and changed the turn signal from 3 blinks to 5. There are quite a few other customizations available.

Thanks, I just went ahead and ordered me one from Amazon with Prime next day shipping. Will arrive on Monday. Not really sure of it's full potential but for $40, I figured I would give it a try.

At your own risk you can easily unbolt the seat, cant it towards you and unbolt the buckle assembly, unwrap the buckle and slide the receptacle electronics out from inside it. Remove the small spring that pushed the inner switch assembly up when it's unbuckled. The electrical switch will stay closed the next time you buckle the belt and will not be pushed back up when you release it.

It's fantastic, I've done it on my three past Tacomas. And it's returnable to stock when you want.

It's in my very weak build thread.
