I don't know how old you are, but as someone in their 40's I wish I hadn't done things in my youth to damage my hearing. If the music is loud enough to rattle the car next to you, then you are damaging your hearing aside from being inconsiderate of those around you.

My point is, for me, that for $700, it sux. The JBL may sound fine. BUT, they are charging $700 for it.
It's the value, not just the quality. For $700, it sux. It's just a rip off. Not necessarily terrible, just way overpriced.

I know exactly what the OP is saying. If you remove the speakers, and I did, you will notice that they are 5-10 dollar speakers. They sound OK but just having them in your hands may make you feel ripped off. But at the same time, that's the same reason I replaced them and installed exactly what I wanted.

So just install your new speakers and move on.

And since when was OEM stuff not overpriced? That is nothing new. Either accept it or don't buy it.

In the ears of the beholder, some people like the Toyota systems because it`s the best that they have ever had while others are used to listening to a 3k+ system. I know what quality audio should sound like as I competed in car audio for 19 years. I own a new Honda and a Tacoma, Toyota is doing a lot better job than Honda is in the audio department. I am not saying that the Tacoma systems that they are installing are top notch but it`s a lot better than many others are doing.

Coming from a guy thats had kickers jl w7 to 15 competetion sub the jbl rocks and sounds great for not having to pull head units and panels to change speakers and run wires for amps and subs. Oem goodness no rattling panels or broken clips cause lets be real things never go back as nice as they came

    Still to come
I've been checking the different posts on the 3rd Gens audio. I know everyone has their own opinions on quality sound, I've always just had stock speakers in all my cars from my 87 toyota Cressida to my 07 pontiac grand prix, even now in my 15 wrx. Let's face it I didn't buy a tacoma to compete in audio comps, I bought it to have some fun in the dirt and rocks....that being said I still enjoy my music and bought into the jbl audio upgrade...hopefully I'm not disappointed.

I personally love the speakers and Infotainment system that came with my SR5. Entune runs better than Enform in my 2013 Lexus GS.
