    2013 Taco w/JBL System: to keep things short, i would like to install a new sub / amp setup. i have read that you can not use a LOC (line out converter) because of the digitial signal from the head unit to the amp, or no one have figured out what wires to tap into after the jbl amp. so...

    1. R&R stock HU with aftermarket and use: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120TYTO01/Axxess-TYTO-01-Wiring-Interface.html?tp=3486 , which would let the aftermarket HU work and still incorporate the JBL amp to power the door speakers etc..
    2. remove and unplug the jbl sub
    3. install new sub / amp and pull Remote on, RCA's from new HU to provide signal to the new setup.
    in theory i would still keep the jbl amp to power the door speakers just not the jbl sub.....

    has anyone tried this? or know of a different method to get this working? ive searched and everything out there is for non-jbl systems, right now im not really looking to gut the whole system and factory wiring if i do not have to .

    ______________________________________________________________________________
    UPDATE:

    so thanks to some input i was able to install a LOC with the Stock JBL System and have a fully working setup;

    Stock JBL Deck
    Stock JBL AMP
    Stock Door Speakers
    Aftermarket Sub Box with two 10" JL Audio subs
    Aftermarket JBL AMP
    Scocshe LOC: http://www.walmart.com/ip/31954500?...71308968&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=84463527408&veh=sem

    JBL Stock Sub wires: Coming out of the amp to the sub, the wires are green/yellow (+), green/white (-) for one coil and blue/black (+), blue/red (-) for the other coil. (Thanks to @bear263 ) as seen in the pic below;

    20160403_105741[1].jpg

    i used some quick connects to tie in the LOC to the stock jbl sub harness by unplugging the stock sub and tapping into the harness > must be the harness that leaves the amp to the stock sub!
    • LOC white +(wire) to Stock JBL Harness green/yellow +
    • LOC white / black - to Stock JBL Harness green/white -
    • LOC grey + to Stock JBL Harness blue /black +
    • LOC grey / black - to Stock JBL Harness blue/red -
    • LOC yellow to aftermarket amp power in / acc on
    • LOC Black to aftermarket amp ground
    • LOC blue to aftermarket remote on
    • LOC RCA > AMP RCA
    • LOC bass knob / plug and route to front for mounting
    Pics below for reference;

    20160403_105831[1].jpg
    20160403_105820[1].jpg
    20160403_110349[1].jpg
    20160403_112808[1].jpg
    • unmounted amp from stock sub (remove screws to pull off of plastic sub box)
    • 4 screws hold amp to the bracket you must remove the 4 and slide out the amp internals to remove the last 2 screws that hold on the bracket)
    • relocated stock jbl system amp between in the middle of the seats next to the new amp location / on truck floor
    • rerouted stock harnesses to under the seat, im sure this is a better way of doing this but it works for now.
    so far the scocshe loc is working no problems and the bass knob is pretty handy, audio quality is pretty decent im sure a better loc would clean up the signal, but i did not want to wait to order one and wanted to insure that this method would work before spending some $.

    any how thats what is it i will post better pics asap but whats posted should suffice for anyone that is needing the same setup!

    thanks again to;

    Unfortunately I'm out of town until Friday. If you were able to wait until then I can get you the info when I get back to work. Worst case scenario you access the sub and tag the wires going into the sub.

    I can sit in it no worries, there are 4 wires going into the sub so kind of complicates it

    Sure, you can use a loc or some will cut a pair of rcas ends off and solder them directly to the wires and then the other end that are rcas plug into the amp. I have done and do both just depends.

    I'll go loc method with some taps, if all works out I'll throw a diy together for everyone as one for Jbl systems doesn't exist

    All your doing is catching signal for a sub amp. Signal is the same from one coil to another. Just use one set if you can access the wires. One is your positive and other is your negative

    Well I couldn't wait to order the lc2i so I picked up a loc at wally world and it did the trick, I'm guessing the lc2i would clean up the signal more.

    For now I'll run it as so finished the install almost in the dark so tomorrow will need to figure out how to situate the Jbl factory amp, not many options with the harnesses.

    That's great to hear. Glad you were able to get it done. Post pics and detail what you did if able to for people that were in the same boat as you.
