I completely agree with you! :) We even joke about the fact that the only reason God is keeping him here is because his fast car isn't done being built yet ;) (My dad's a major lead foot & a junky for fast vehicles) :) ha ha Thanks for the love & support; I am so sorry to hear of your own loss ♥

I'm looking forward to meeting the Pelfreys at Rock Therapy. They've been awesome to deal with as a customer!

Satin, I hope God brings your father his due relief soon so he can go racing in Heaven and leave behind the pain he's suffering now.

Cancer is a terrible disease, and is very hard on families and the patients. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless.

I just lost an uncle 2 weeks ago, a cousin never woke up last week, and another uncle battling stage 4 lung and throat cancer (non smoker) so you are not alone sir. I feel for you and your family and wish you the best. All we can to from here is continue to be the people they were proud of.

Working in healthcare I see this far too often. And no option is a good one.
Cancer generally kills slow, so there's this build up to it. The knowing its going to happen. However it also gives families and the pt time to prepare and come to grips with the outcome before it hits.

On the other hand I've gone to PTs who've been walking talking and joking with me, to literally, literally, drop stone dead in front of me. In a case like this you know there was very little pain and suffering but there's no preparation for the family. Just a shitty phone call.

I dunno which is really better or worse.

I'm happy they're keeping your Dad comfortable, but it's still not easy for family. I don't directly know what its like, but I've seen it more than most. My heart goes out to you and your family.
I hope your father's last days are warm, comfortable and filled with family and friends.
Dumb as it may seem, smells are good for triggering memory. So if you got some of Mom's perfume or a blanket that has a distinctive smell maybe bring that.

    Just an idea.

@Krazie Sj You are so kind to share your professional experience with death. Thank you so much. Our hospice team has been incredibly supportive & helpful on all levels; we truly are blessed & simply could not do this without them! So THANK YOU for what you do-while not for my family personally, I know the importance of your role & truly appreciate it like never before!

When my dad was diagnosed 4 years ago, they gave him a max of 5 years, so I read up on lung cancer (he hadn't smoked in 37 years!!) and I went to all his doctor visits with him & my mom. We talked very openly about it, as a family unit and prepared for his death, but at that time he had zero signs of the cancer-only the diagnosis. God has been good to him; he has lived a very full 4 years (73 total) and made lots of extra amazing/fun memories during this time! He only started showing signs of weight loss and choking (esophagus is closing due to tumor) starting in August of last year.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving & Christmas celebration together & he was happy & doing fine-just having to eat soft & smaller bites of food. I told Tyler then that I had this gut-wrenching feeling those would be our last holidays with my dad. It killed me to even vocalize it, but God has always been merciful & seems to prepare my heart for looming hard times like this.

Anyway, my point is that no matter how much I planned, we planned, or talked; as much research as I did, and questions I answered, NOTHING prepared me for this phase we're currently in, watching him dying one-day-at-a-time! It is the most excruciatingly painful experience of my life!! I feel an array of emotions: helpless because I can't make him better. Gratitude for the opportunity to dote on him, pamper & care for him in his state of vulnerability. Sadness in knowing I'm losing him, and happiness in looking forward to seeing him again in Heaven!

God has truly blessed me with the most loving & supportive husband a girl could have!! Tyler aka @Socalduckslayer is my rock through all of this & I can't imagine going through this without him by my side! I also have some incredibly amazing friends who are supporting us with meals, text messages, cards, voicemails, lunches out & just hugs... Then there's all of you: my #pelfreybiltfamily :) I am truly blessed & can't even begin to thank all of you for taking the time out of your day to share your personal stories with me; for opening yourself up & going to that painful place with me so I know that I'm not alone. THANK YOU!

    Much Love ♥
