Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; Added GTA Bluetooth Audio kit to stock radio for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumper; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs. Installed new hood with "hood-scoop". Installed Predator Side Steps. Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.
Can anyone suggest where to send the front grill to get color matched?

Can this process be done at home or does one just take it to a local paint shop to have this done?

If it were me, I would honestly just buy a paint matched grille.

You would probably spend more to "send it out" to someone to do. You could do it yourself for substantially less but make sure you are detail oriented and doing everything you need to paint it properly. Which likely includes cleaning, sanding, primer, several paint coats, and then a clear coat.

I just got done paint matching two grilles, one for my F250 and one for my husbands Jeep Grand Cherokee. I bought new pre-primed grilles from the manufacturer and then bought the paint. I have an uncle with friends in the body shop business so I used their airbrushes. You can buy paint to match in spray cans though.
I could not buy what I wanted for the grilles, so I had to make it. If I could just buy it and slap it on, that's what I would have done for the cost.

Fella's thanks for the suggestions but Camelback only offers front grills for 2012 and up from what I see on their website and also don't even offer the color that I would need Desert Sand Mica?
So it appears as though I would have to have mine custom painted that is why I was asking if anyone knew of a specific place that I could ship mine to so that it could be done.

PACKCON, it looks like that is the route that I am going to have to take?

I wouldn't ship it off just talk to a local body shop about bringing it in to them.

Desert sand mica is an old color. Prior to 2012 I believe which is why they don't offer it.

They have a used one on sale on ebay for $99

Have you tried to order the part from Toyota? Just like ordering the grille (not painted) from them.

By chance would you happen to know the exact part number for it?

    If not that's O K I'll just inquire.

It's just that I already have an extra front chrome material grill that I had since I had previously replaced it and was thinking of using that one to paint/color match and of course replace the inside portion of the grill with a black mesh.
But like you said, if I can get one that is already primed and ready for paint, that would be better?

Take it to a local body shop and ask them to do a paint match. Most places around here charge about $250 to paint a primed bumper. A grill shouldn't cost more than $100-$150.

I thought i had read elsewhere that painting our chrome grills was a lost cause due to easy chipping/peeling issues from paint not adhering well...

Also, how does one get color matched paint and DYI this? Do they have our truck colors available in spray cans?

My first Tacoma was Impulse Red & Toyota did not make it in a color-matched grill.
The Barcelona Red and Radiant Red they did.
I ended up buying a used non chrome grill, took off the surround (there is like 25 tabs in the back).
You cut them with a dremel or use a screwdriver to bend them after getting them hot with hair dryer.
After the surround & the center are apart, you can take it to a body shop.
I brought the surround & my truck to a body shop.
The BS chipped the grill to my truck.
They told me all factory color comes in different shades depending on the spray line & exposure to elements.
After it was finished, I put it all back together again.
I think the painting was like $125 ish plus buying the grill.
