Beading doesn't necessarily mean the product isn't working. Some products sheet off rather than bead.

I agree completely with you but my brain says a product that beads better offers more protection. Whether that's true or false, I don't know.

I was always thought the same. Try using a coating sometime. Sheets like crazy...like the water falls off. :headbang:

What do you mean by "a coating"

Coatings are sometimes called "semi-permanent". They are applied with a foam or microfiber applicator, much like a wax or sealer. Application instructions differ slightly from brand to brand, but the main thing is that longevity is often measured in years, as opposed to waxes and sealers. You typically get a very small amount in the "kit", just enough for one vehicle. And it'll run you $60-$100+ (if you do it yourself). Autogeek carries several brands if you wanna check them out. They provide a nice little description of each one.

There are many products that quit beading long before the protective ability is gone. I've even read that some products have a component added to them to specifically produce beading effect, having nothing at all to do with the protection component.

Long story short, as previously mentioned, diminished beading doesn't necessarily mean the protection is gone. But it does serve as a good reminder to reapply something again sooner than later.

You might wanna try Menzerna Power Lock. Similar product to the Megs ULW. But guys over on autogeek say it has much better longevity.

I don't remember if I mentioned it in this thread or not, but Duragloss 111/601 combo is good too. I have it on my truck now and it's crazy glossy (and cheap). The beading diminished rather early on, but the product is very clearly still doing its job. I can tell it's still there just by the shine. It just doesn't go away. Don't get me wrong, it still beads plenty.

I've got the Menzerna on deck. Hope to get some applied in the next couple weeks.

Google Optimum Glosscoat. I currently have it on 3 different vehicles.

Ace- in your experience, does the optimum help to avoid swirls?

It seems to help. Works wonders for bird bombs.

My guess is its the same unless the French have some chemicals that are banned.
