I'm looking to get 1.5" without preloading the coils but without a good solution yet. 881's seem too much (up to 2.5" from some accounts) and 880's not enough.

My current best and nearest answer is stock coils with middle bilstein setting of 1.25".

So just have to throw this Hail Mary out there before I pull the trigger. Is there any way to get approximately 1.5" on the front of a 1st gen double cab V6? Preferably without preloading.

I guess another way to ask this question is, what other options are there for coils in the 1-2" lift range for our trucks? Is there anything outside of OME with a less than 2" but more than stock lift height?

You can go the 1.25" Bilstein 5100 route with your factory coils, tophat spacers and longer studs. I just did mine with factory TRD coils and the ride is not bad at all.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did look at the quick lifts but discovered them the same day I ordered my 5100's.

@xcmtb83 i might have to pm for the details. Sounds like that might work perfect for me!

Looking for a similar setup but maybe more like 2.5". A tophat spacer and 5100 (stock coil) seems to be a good combo. The rear will probably be a lift block, I think 1.5" will do. Need rear shocks too, not sure what I need there. Don't want to hijack but if someone has an inexpensive recommendation with part number I'd appreciate it.

I think the ride should be good and the cost is decent also. Pretty sure the pre-load needed isn't significant

Oh forgot to mention I'm hoping to squeeze a 33x10.5 tire in there. Think I need a wheel spacer and probably just a little trim.

wanted to give a little update. Finally installed Bilstein 5100's all around with General Springs HD in the rear and stock coils with 1/4" top hat spacers in the front. The ride is tremendously better than the stock setup. The lift is subtle and still makes my 265/75/16 tires look relatively well proportioned for my taste. Thanks for the help from those who made suggestions especially @xcmtb83

Final tally is about 1.5" rear (already had 5 leaf pack in the back) and 1.5" in the front.

Here's a few pics of the new setup:

That setup looks good. Any rubbing? I see you removed the front mud flaps.

Thanks! There was some rubbing prelift on the passenger front when the wheel was turned all the way to right, but luckily it's got enough clearance now.

May give the paint a break and try to put the mudflaps back on now.

I may go this same route, truck looks very good. Nice job. Does the truck look even on flat ground when looking at directly on the side or is it a little raked?

It looks even if you look at it from the side. If you look at it from the rear the back looks slightly higher, but that may just be a perspective thing. I'm planning on taking off the canopy in a few weeks to see if I can get a little rake (which is my preference).

How much do you think the canopy weighs?

    Probably 150-200lbs. It's a snugtop.

FWIW I got the 881s on my truck and got nowhere near 2.5" of lift out of them, in fact I'm pretty sure OME says 2" is the max lift to expect out of the 881s. I ended up with about 1", v6 4x4 so I have some weight in the front but I was a little disappointed as I was hoping for the 2 that they advertised. Juts a heads up for anyone looking at 881s.

I'm still very happy with this setup. Reading eon_blue's reply I will likely pick up some 881's at some point, perhaps when the current tires need replacement and possibly go up a size to 285/75/16.

But bottom line this set up is very comfortable, firm but not jarring. I would do it again or recommend the same for someone looking for a subtle lift without hesitation.

You're welcome and thanks for the compliment.

Bilstein's are set to the middle 1.25" setting on stock 4wd v6.
