I am guessing you're not worried about the MPG's too much since having purposefully added the weight; I am just curious how the 4cyl handles the added weight, I.E. on the trails, on the pavement and MPG wise. Thanks and nice looking rig!

No I have icon extended travel... but I'm just saying just cause it's a 4cyl doesn't mean it won't get heavy!!!

Thanks..... I've regeared to 4.88 so the truck doesn't feel the weight at all.. my last road trip I was hitting 615km indicated on 72 liters of fuel(80liter tank). My tires are 14% bigger than stock. Quick and dirty I'm seeing 19-22mpg. On the trails it's a beast love 4.88s I'm also locked front and rear ☺

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at getting a 4cyl AC and am just trying to get as much information as possible. Once purchased I want to do a mild build with armor but I will be traveling a longer distance for work in the coming months and fuel mileage plus build was a concern. Your truck and answer helped me out.

On the other hand, I lost 25% of average MPG with a mild lift (2.25 fr/2.75 rr) and mild tire weight (245/75/16 to 265/75/16, both P rated) increase. Stock gearing (4.10) and auto trans, DCSB Prerunner.

Double cab, auto 4cyl don't mix lol... the only way to go is access and 5spd.... if you wanna build and still have some fuel milage. I didn't regear until I went to 35's... the week with stock gears gave me a glimpse into what it would be like to own a v6 tacoma lol

Don't think manual was an option for DC 2.7.

Either way, 4x4 needs are way different than mine. But you can definitely lose some mileage on the 2.7 which the other guy was concerned of, regearing is a must IMO.

The plot thickens once again!
As I will be keeping the truck for a while I won't be putting on a lift and larger/heavier tires on it until MPG's aren't as large of a factor and my commute is shorter and then the few mild things will become lots of things.
I appreciate your insight and stats. I still have a lot of thinking to do and need to acquire the truck first.

I have a 2013 with 885's and nitro shocks and I think it's around 3". It's a reg cab though. I'm getting around 23-1/4" measurement from center of wheel hub to fender. The 887 might be too much unless you have some added weight up front.

IMG_6193.jpg Here are some 884's with an aal and 2" blocks. I just put heavy dakars in. The shop is putting the 885's on my shocks and aligning the truck. Also hard shell is off with a softopper going on as well as pelfrey sliders. I will post some pictures after all is said and done. This is a 5spd manual by the way.
