Over the last few months I've been seriously considering trading my three year old truck in for 3rd gen. The '13 has been great, minimal complaints here but I like the body style and engine improvements of the '16.

I've seen some of the threads about the issues on the '16s, nothing to deter me from buying one yet. However I was wondering if anyone else has done this trade for similar reasons and what their experiences were.

Anyone know if the DCSB V6 with towing package available with a manual transmission, either 2WD or 4WD.

    Thanks.

What trim are you looking for? Color?
Yes it is available. You can go to Toyota.com and build the way you like( or close to it). You will have to play with different zip codes however, it's crazy that way. It only lets you build according to whats available in that area, so if you don't see it, change zip codes. I just looked and there is a blue sport 4wd, DCSB, V6 manual, and a MGM OR,DCSB manual available.

I had been considering a manual before I bought my auto and all of the manuals that I could find shown as inbound to Florida were headed to Mike Erdman Toyota in Merritt Island. I'm not sure what the deal is, but it made it appear like they were the only ones bringing them in. Just a tip in case you want to check their inventory or use their zip code for a build on the Toyota site.

Congrats on the decision, there are many of us that came from the 2nd gen to the 3rd. You're gonna love it!

Honestly I would wait for Toyota to address some of the issues that seem to plague almost all the new trucks. Not saying 2nd gen is perfect or 3rd is crap, but your truck works fine, wont depreciate that much more in a year and you'll be getting a more refined 3rd gen. But if you cant wait do what makes you happy.

Currently driving a PreRunner SR5 and something along this trim line or better would be ideal. Certainly don't want to go down in trim line. Where did you see that blue sport 4WD DCSB?

That is a good strategy, and I am usually one for not buying something the first year because of production problems with early serial numbers. I might just stick to that philosophy.

Do it, you won't regret it. Every model vehicle has it's problems, more then half the complaints here come from people that don't even own a 3rd gen. Be advised that there are issues no one can deny but your chances of have a problem are far more slim then the impression you will get from reading this forum.
I'm here for all the great information available. It's all about how you look at it.

BTW I took a beating on my '14 and glad I did because my '16 brings me close to the feeling I had when I bought my first Tacoma in '03.

I was able to build it using zip code 65898, That's MO. But when it built it and I clicked search inventory it wasn't there. Like I said, the build site is not very friendly. Cars.com may be more helpful.

    None... sigh
Traded a 14 for my 16 with no regrets. Only a minor problem that with some persistence was taken care of.

Definitely hold off man. Wayyyyyy too many issues and Toyota has been mum on them so far.

I just traded in my Pyrite Mica 2013 DCSB PreRunner for a 2016 4WD DCSB TRD Sport in Quicksand.

The '16 seemed a little sluggish at first (not as much 'pep' as the '13 when I mashed the gas), but it has seemed to become a little more responsive now.

No regrets, but it has only been a few hundred miles so far.
