I always use a tamper paint marker on all the fittings and fill plugs. After they are done I check to see if the marks are broken. Works wonders on keeping lube techs honest.image.jpg

Did some looking around at the RC62F 6 speed manual and the transfer case today. Found that Toyota did indeed go back to the bolt on steel input shaft bearing retainer. This means we should not suffer from the input shaft/throw out bearing issues of the RA60 transmission that the 2005-2015 models had. The bell housing is no longer case into the transmission case. This will be a nice feature in the future for engine swaps and for transplanting this trans into other vehicles.image.jpg

The transfer case looks to share the same case casting as the auto trans FJ Cruisers. This means there could be a possibility to make these into a top shift manual shift transfer case. This is would require a complete tear down to verify so don't quote me on it. It does however have a shifter block off plate on top. That gives me hope of a future mod to a stick shifted transfer case. @BigMike image.jpg

I went to test drive an auto and they just happened to have a MT on the delivery truck I pretty much stood there and waited on it and bought it

You can do this mod on a second gen but you have to do some parts swapping in the cases and some light machine work to make it all happen. If I ever get my hands on a case to try this with I will elaborate more. I will for sure be in contact with a certain Toyota guru I know to see what he thinks about this.

Edit: the part that sucks is I have both of the cases it would possibly take to do this sitting in the drive way but they are in my wife and my daily drivers. Treating them both down for research purposes is not gonna happen. Wife would end me I've something like that.

Re ordering or not. Go to cars.com, find what you want, call, work out a deal, go get it. You need to check daily at least (I was checking five times a day) if you have a really specific color/confirguration you want (my associate drove 10 hours) but if you are color/option flexible, there is something around.

Hey there all, I'm soon to be a new Tacoma owner coming from the Jeep world.

I ordered a 2016 TRD Sport in the 6 speed manual 2 weeks ago. Looks like it's going to be a while before they get it in, which I expected. Anyone have any experience with getting the dealership to throw some additional packages or anything to compensate a month and a half to 2 month wait time?

Mine showed up with a tonneau cover that I didn't pay for (and didn't want). Just spent $250 for replacement, unmolested bed rails. But I suppose I can recoup that selling the cover.

I'd just spend the two months saving for/pre-buying mods.

Fellow members, is the clunky noise from changing gears normal? Usually changing from 1st to 2nd, maybe 3rd...loose bolts? I keep hearing its normal, also shifts fine and everything. Just too noisy

You won't get anything from the dealership except packaged up bed cleats. Depending on the way you configured it, it may come with all weather floor mats or carpet ones if you didn't order either. Usually you won't get anything else from the dealer.

Not sure if anyone has answered this for you yet, but Canyon Dancers (and ratchet straps) are the way to go. I have had a set for 10+ years and have never had a single issue. They take all the worry out of transporting my bike. Can't beat the price either.

The clunk got me curios the first day or so I owned mine. Borrowed one of the wireless real time camera setups we have at work to look into this. From what I could tell on my truck it is spring slap on the leaf springs caused by axle wrap. Now that I know what it is I'm good with it and hardly notice it any more.

Nothing a better rear leaf pack can't fix. @Wheeler's Off-Road, Inc better have some HD 5 leaf packs in Stock when I'm ready to lift.
