So I just recently purchased a 1999 tacoma 4x4 and and Im going through and fixing everything I can. Ive finally gotten to the suspension and tires and both need to be overhauled. Ive done the rear leaf springs and Im preparing to order some bilstein 5100s along with coils for the front.
My question is, if i replace the front suspension and tires at the same time (and get a free alignment with the tires) will I need another alignment once the struts settle (if thats a thing- im not sure)? Im trying to avoid needing multiple alignments but I dont think my tires have enough life left in them to let everything settle before they are replaced. Any thoughts would be great

After u install the shocks drive over several speed bumps (i like to do laps around a parking lot with speed bumps in it) and they will do their initial settling. Drive the recommended # of miles and do your re-torque on suspension components. Then do tires and get your alignment done last.

Hadnt thought of driving over speed bumps, will definitely do that. Im just concerned my tires wont last the recommended # of miles before they give. Guess I will have to wait and see haha. thanks

Yeah but I was going to try and do the struts first bc the tires will come with a free alignment. Im so cheap I dont want to pay for another alignment if I dont have to

I've used the speed bump thing (which I discovered by chance) when I lifted my '96 taco and on my '06. It works well for me.

Tires, while you need them, have nothing to do with alignment. Only the springs do. The springs hold the weight, not the shocks. Shocks are just for controlling the spring action.

So as soon as you get the suspension installed and driven for a bit, it's ready to align.

If your tires will get you a couple days and a few miles, you'll be fine.

I don't blame you bro. Lol. That's a waste of money. I think it's only like 50 miles before re-torque if i m remembering right. Your old tires can't possibly be that bad can they?
