Does anyone know a shop in Canada that can reflash my ECU to a new chipped master key? My keys were stolen, and the dealership quoted me $2000 to get a new key and a new ECU. I know there's got to be somebody in this country that can reflash the ECU for a new key.

The limited 4runners had an immobilizer and the keys are chipped for this reason, though they appear like any other key. I assume the Tacomas of the same vintage were the same. The key needs to be programmed to the ecu and immobilizer to work. Toyota doesn't program them unless you have a "master key" to copy from. Otherwise they make you buy a new ecu that comes with new keys. I found a company in WA called E-Z Keylocksmith through an Ebay listing that can do it for $195 if I send them my ECU. Will be sending it out monday.
