Started in 500mm quads when gyros were the only sensors.. Much harder to fly and less precise.

Tried to get into videography before everyone and chased a vibration free rig. Then the Phantoms hit the market and everyone became drone videographers for 1000$..

Eventually moved to long range, low altitude fpv flights going out a little over a mile

Now I've recently broke into the 250 class and wow..flight times suck but changing a battery (that charges faster) every 8 minutes isn't that bad..everything is cheaper, lighter, and waaay faster..

I don't think I ever posted this. Senior engineering design project 2 years ago. H8 design, 13" props, (5) 5200 mAh LiPo batteries, KK2 controller, weighing in at nearly 55 lbs. It was a competition to see who could build the heaviest quadcopter/drone while still being maneuverable and meeting certain dimensional criteria.

Fully modeled in Solidworks ( we had to have a shroud for competition, 1x4s did the trick.)

    Flight time?...

I have really wanted to build a huge quad ( maybe 24" props) for extremely long flight time but the motors alone were over 1000$..

At full throttle, probably 6 minutes. Closer to 10 for just hovering. We intentionally made the frame heavy though. It was 1/2" square steel tubing with 1/4" steel rod inside the square tubing, welded together. If we would have used aluminum or carbon fiber, I bet we could have gotten closer to 20 minutes.

Has anyone here used UAVs for anything besides photos/videos?

Anyone used dronedeploy or anything else to survey or 3Dmap?

That's weird. Never had jello effect with any Phantom I've had right out of the box.

Let me know if you need any help :D

Other than driving it around like a race quad :anonymous: I personally haven't. But the people that bought my Phantom 2 were going to use it to train Falcons by hanging meat off of it with a string lol

No, I got the Advanced. Seemed to be the best compromise between the Standard, and Pro.

Didn't realize there was a plastic protection film on the lens. The picture I took had that still on. I took it off, and will try it out today.
