What model is that one ?

 

It's the basic Access Tonneau Sport cover. Was 225ish. Nothing fancy but I wanted a cover that sat inside the rails in order to use a bed rack in conjunction and this is the only one I could find that would work.

 

@Inferno_Taco how did you mount the tracrac to your bed? I've been waiting for Thule to release the brackets for the gen3

 

What rack is this?

 

It's a custom set up based off the basic universal TracRac system I picked up at Home Depot. I had to modify the feet by cutting the 90* bends off of them and drilling through the bed cap. It's fix mounted with 3 button head bolts in each foot through the bed cap. Once the feet were mounted we cut the vertical bars down 7-8" to make it cab height. It's taken quite a bit of work but I'm very happy with the end result. It allows me to run the tonneau cover to keep things in the dry and secure and still have the rack for carrying the tent and camping stuff.

Just bought the Truxedo Truxsport Tonneau from Auto anything for $269. Anybody have any experience with this cover?

That's $140 cheaper than autoanything's price!

 

To be honest, I will seldom ever remove it because I can put stuff on top of it. I've already put over 1,000 lbs on top of it and strapped it down and had no issues at all.

That being said, one person can remove either lid in less than 1 minute. One person could remove the whole thing--one lid at a time, then the middle support bar--comfortably inside of 5 minutes. Two people could remove the whole thing--lids attached--by undoing the support bar brackets and lifting the whole cover off of the truck comfortably inside of 3 minutes--open the lids, loosen 4 bolts, and lift.

 

Thanks for the info. I still haven't bought one, but really haven't seen one that compares to the functionality of the Diamondback. The only things holding be back is forking out that much cash, and my concern about shipping. I live in a cookie-cutter neighborhood, and not comfortable with delivery while at work. Once I work that out, I'm sure I'll be on here showing it off.

I bought one and returned it immediately, the covers looks like it wasn't made for the Tacoma, it's crooked and hangs over the bed on the rear....

 

I have a 2016 Limited with the tri fold cover. The bed is only 5 foot, no other optons, and the tri fold, when it is open covers too much of the bed. It is hard for me to haul much unless it is small or short. I will probably remove it until we take a trip in it, and put the luggage back there. I just don't like the amount of space it takes up and how little it restricts me to. Not sure I would buy it again.

 

Are you talking about the factory cover ?

Does it not come off the truck in 2 minutes like my Extang Trifecta trifold ?

 

Installed the Revolver X2 the other day. Like the cover, fits tight, easy to use. Problem is I am getting water in the bed from both front corners. Cover fits tight up there. Was under the cover which was half rolled up and could see light coming in from both corners. Stuck a straighten coat hanger through the hole from their inside to try and figure it out. Ends up it is not the cover, it is a gap in the way the bed is constructed. I am not talking about the gap between the head rail and side rails, two plugs came with the cover for those. Went by the dealer today and checked three other Tacoma's and they all have that opening. Question, has anyone plugged up those holes and how did you do it?

 

First thing that came to my mind too. It's just to big of a area for that and a hard place to get to. You can feel the gap at the front corners by reaching in between the truck cab and the front of the bed. I am concerned if I plug it from the inside that the water that gets in will get trapped in between the metal panels and over time rust. It has been suggested to use black duck tape but I'd prefer not to have a tape patch on my new truck even if it is between the bed and the cab

 

Same here. My bed is gonna be removed for repair so I was gonna look at that area closely.

Did you put the thin wether strip down on the header rail of the bed? I did on mine but I wonder if it sits to high now.

 

Yes I did put the weather strip down on the header rail. All that fits very tight.
