ping or ting in the transmission going into most gears need help!

Hey guys, so have a '96 Taco, 4x4, ext. cab, about 203K on the clock, 3.4L V6, manual tranny.

My issue is that over the last 6 months, I've been hearing a weird "ping" or more like a "tink" even when letting the clutch out. I'm not sure the best way to describe it, maybe if I was siting in neutral on a level surface then put in first and when to let the clutch out with a bit of gusto I'd get a bit of loading then a "tink"... I can pretty easily replicate it back and forth in reverse to first every time letting the clutch out and as it loads up you hear the "tink" again... I've even heard it in second and third.. usually by 4th or 5th I don't hear it much. Any Ideas?

I've greased all u joints and slip yoke and drove immediately after and it did not help. I've gotten underneath the truck and even checked the u joints they all seem to be firm with no play in them.

It seems really similar to what problem this guy was having: but I'm not sure...anyone ever had this happen before?

Coincidentally, a transmission fluid leak seems to have developed at the intermediate plate where all that FIPG sealant is.. how big of a b###h is that to fix? Good grief.

had this. I think it went away when I replaced the tranny mount and the center support. check out the pic. if the rubber is gone, the tranny will slide freely. the only thing holding it in place is that bolt in the center. I think your tranny is banging against that bolt, causing the tink.

Doesn't look like it has similar bushings... could it still be the problem? In fact just looks like a hard piece of metal/plastic on that one knob that sticks down into the crossmember...

 

yes it can still do the same thing. and my tranny support looks like the one you posted, not like the one in the pic i posted
