yeah that's actually what I just got done doing lol. I didnt realize it was that easy to mess with it. I guess it was just how the whole light part worked that was throwing me off...but I didnt realize that it's basically like a strobe light with how it works. I do believe the manual calls for 8* BTDC, and I got it pretty damn dead on

dont know how well you can see it in the video, but the mark is pretty damn dead on to the 8* mark on the oil pump

Tell me about it. I wasn't patient at all, but i've found a few prospects around that I'm looking at so hopefully I'll get another one. I should have used that one to learn off of so I knew what to do on the next.

you'll get it on the next one though, definitely try to find another, these things are becoming harder and harder to find in decent condition lol. Even though mine was/is still in not so good shape....it's been fun learning how to do all this stuff to lol

Hard to tell, are those new plug wires? If not, then new ones might further reduce the hesitation and hiccuping.

Motor is relatively timed, put new spark plug wires on with a custom zip tie management, bought a new drag link and rebuilt it; so now majority of my steering wheel play is gone; and now I'm havin fun tearing apart my spare transmission lol. The reverse gear in it is gone, but once I get off work here, I'm gonna take the trans out of the truck and tear it apart and steal the reverse gears out of that and make one good trans. Should be fun lol, for whoever has never seen then inside of a transmission looks like, here ya go!

Transmission is all back together and everything works perfectly! Just need to get the rear driveshaft shortened and I'll be set for daily driving!

    PHOTO DUMP! and Update haha

wow has it been awhile since ive posted anything. kinda just really havent been on here haha. Man, where to start lol. In no particular order lol, first off the rear driveshaft is in and works perfectly, got my oil leak finally fixed after 3 different gaskets, new rocker arm tappets so my miss fire for the most part is gone now, swapped back to dino oil 10w30 with zinc oil additive, welded my exhaust up so it's fairly quiet now from what it was, picked up the W59 and rear driveshaft for my motor swap, bought a 3RZ engine bay harness and ECU along with a 1st gen 2.7 engine bay fuse box to power everything. Bought some MIG welded Chilkat conversion engine mounts for my 3RZ so it can sit in my engine bay haha. With the rear driveshaft, I though I was screwed, completely didnt realize the bolt pattern on the tcase for the G52 was different than the L43s tcase flange, so I basically took my impact gun, and awesomely enough, the splines are all the same, so I swapped flanges and avoided that whole issue lol

Finally also got rid of the crappy bench seat and picked up a set of Prelude seats for $40 and fabricated a bracket for the seat, SO AWESOME HAVING A SEAT!!!! haha, that bench seat needed to go lol, only 1 seat is in now, but im not worried about that at the moment; not even sure if the pass seat is gonna go in haha. Got plans to get rid of my 80 cab as it's in a horrible state, there's and 82 cab that is in way better shape that im gonna try to trade some of my Tacoma parts for, we'll see how that goes.

Big thing is I thought I had a parasitic draw, turns out my alternator is only pushing 12.3 volts instead of 13+ like it's supposed to. I had to warranty out my 3 1/2 month old battery because it was dead. Probably gonna go with the GM 1 wire alternator when I do my 3RZ swap. When the new cab gets put on, im gonna be getting rid of the stupid JEGS harness as it's just way too much of a pain to deal with. Plan right now is to build myself a custom fuse and relay block and mock and run all the wires BEFORE doing any splicing so it will look a lot better than it is now lol. and finally, the coolest part, I got rid of that ugly ass mirror haha, drilled them into the front fenders old school style! My custom plates also came in finally too haha

I had also FINALLY got to take her out to the ranges and go wheeling for the first time! Pretty fun driving a 4x4 and a stick offroad for the first time lol. Ran into some "overheating" issues, she was just running hot, so i filled her up with more coolant and hopefully that solved her issue with that. Cant wait for what's coming up, cab swap, new wiring, AND a motor swap...man is this gonna be freakin sweet!

So I think that's it for now lol

another update post lol, photos are not in any order, good bit done since last post. had taken her out again to the ranges and she did pretty well, once again lol. took the hood off since she still was running warm, havent really figured it out. Got an old school shifter knob to replace the crappy one that came with the 2nd G52 I had bought. replaced the thermostat and water pump and I think that mostly fixed my running hot issue; moving she stays fairly cool but idle she gets hot, I think thats due to no radiator shroud lol. I also messed around with the charging system so much....2 alternators and 2 regulators later, still doesnt want to charge, my buddy got it to work once...then it just stopped. But I managed to burn the ground wire up after trying to make custom wiring to rule out the wiring BUT i got the power and ground backwards by accident and burned the ground wire up. So, im giving up on the charging system since my 3rz swap is coming very very very soon.

Big things have happened the past week :D, finally got the chance to move off base with an old roommate of mine from the dorms on base. went from a 1 car carport to a 2 car garage! fucking awesome, got everything moved in about a day, but Aleu has pretty much been torn apart already getting ready for the motor swap. Plans for now are to eventually go over to pensacola and grab a 1st gen 4x4 frame and swap the axles over and get rid of the frame I have right now since it is so rotted in the back half. Already started the tear down to FINALLY properly fix all the rust on the cab, redo the wiring, and get everything cleaned up nicely. 3rz is coming very very soon! Cant wait to get rid of this 20r and throw in the 3rz. Already got the body off the frame to get everything prepped lol
