making a preliminary list so i can see if im heading in the right direction... keep in mind my priority is low price on this and I can hopefully still get decent quality.

    Small, cheap Uniden 505 https://www.uniden.com/automotive/cb-radios/idPRO505XL/PRO505XL_40_Channel_Compact_Mobile_CB_Radio
here it is for $32 http://www.amazon.com/Uniden-40-Channel-CB-Radio-PRO505XL/dp/B005ZLB0E4

then the antennas, dual 3' probably unless you guys think the 4' set up is better. I dont really understand the difference between the firestik, firestik II, and the firefly...
    http://www.firestik.com/CatalogFrame.htm

    hood mounts for both sides
    http://www.relentlessfabrication.com/products/05-tacoma-hood-hinge-cb-aux-mount?variant=6137201028

    and coax
    https://www.rightchannelradios.com/...e/products/firestik-firering-cb-coax-with-fme

These may not be the places that i get the equipment from, just examples of the products... like i said, priority is low cost... i appreciate any input on this as i have very little experience with this type of thing so basically shooting in the dark based on others recommendations

Get the 4' firestik II. It is much thicker than the others and has more windings of wire in it for better signal.... I have 2 fireflys and I can't get them to tune... I am taking the truck to the local CB shop tomorrow to be tuned professionally.

And also do they make a 9' coaxial cable like the one you have? And does it come in DUAL antenna set up? The dual coaxial wire setup is different from a single style wire... Wires are thinner and have different ends that plug into a splitter

A legit ice cream shop? Lol im going to newport bay electronics near my parents place on Rt 18 in East Brunswick. They have everything. I am pretty sure @V5ioV went there on my recommendation and they helped him out... I need to get atleast 1 new wire considering that I decided to be the hulk and try to give the wire a good tug and the end plug came off... But I did re insert the wire to the plug and it worked... Just couldn't get any tuning better than 2.3 which I was not happy with

Hopefully it won't bite in too deep to the bed rack funds. Althoug I can't imagine the tune plus some parts being more than 60... I think the bed rack is going to cost me my left nut

@cynicalrider how helpful is Fazzios... If I went in there tomorrow would I be able to have them look at my truck and estimate what I need with them you think? I did a rough estimate with a tape measure and I THINK I need like 36 feet of tubing to be able to make 4 cross bars with 19 inches of rise. :bananadead: the bottom of the tent (which is going on the rack has to be atleast 17 inches above the t handle for my spare tire.

Unless my math is just horribly off which I think it might be...

Not very. You kinda gotta know your shit when you go in. They are a raw materials company, not a fabrication shop. So know what size/thickness tube you need and how long. They won't be able to tell you how much you need for a project.

I figured as much. I messaged one of the bed rack guys here... Worst case scenario I call allpro and ask nicely if they spare som knowledge. It just needs to be 19 inches tall

My first cb setup was with a 5 ft firestik mounted on my bumper.

    It sucked.

Then I got a Wilson 1000 magnetic mount on the roof and I could pick stuff up for 10 miles or so on the interstate.

Dual antennas aren't really needed if you put your antenna in the right spot...
    http://www.rightchannelradios.com/blogs/selection-guides/18542135-the-dual-cb-antenna-guide

I chose the Wilson 1000 because you can remove the antenna unscrews from the base for low overhead stuff like garages. If that doesn't matter to you get the lil wil for $40. I can guarantee a $40 lil Wil on your roof will outperform a $100+ dual 4ft a pillar setup.

Whats is the rise off the top of the bed rail cap? If its 19 inches can you tell me what angle those are bent at and what the length is of the cross bar so I know how much metal I need! Please and thank you

21-1/2 from bed rail to top of tube. I got the angle off of the cab, but around 18 degress IIRC. 8 ' lengths are fine for the 2 legs and the crossbar

Sweet. Thanks man. So 4 8 foot lengths for the 4 cross bars and then probably another 8 feet maybe more for the support bars that run front to back.

Can you calculate the length I need for the cross bar? Lol the overall distance it has to travel is 62 across and the leg has to be 19 inches tall with roughly an 18 degree bend.

Cross bar length will be determined by bend radius. Or are you talking about the spreader bar length(from hoop to hoop). I can get you dimensions when I get back to the shop this afternoon.
